“The resentment toward Romney not fighting back is starting to grow. Romeny seems to be stuck in neutral, unable to get the car into drive. He refuses to take risks...”

I mentioned my doubts about Romney in an email recently to a friend (as conservative a person as anyone on this forum) and his response was:
“I’ve already resigned myself to an Obama victory. I just don’t care anymore. If that’s the best that the GOP can muster, then they deserve to lose. Even lil’ Newty would have fared better if given the chance.”

Durn right.
At least Newt would have put up a fight.
Romney doesn’t even want to put up his fists...

I know the Romney campaign's passiveness right now is discouraging but I think there may be a method behind the madness that will tilt this race in his favour.

Romney is a smart guy. We also know he can get down and dirty (see the primaries) when required. I don't think anyone questions that. Romney's camp is well aware that he is running not only against Obummer but also against the MSM. I think the campaign is using the “rope-a-dope” strategy. Stay close until early October, then use a carpet bomb ad campaign to highlight Obummer’s dismal record. By holding their punches until late in the campaign, Romney can force the MSM to have to build their defense of Obummer on several fronts at once with severe time constraints. O’s record is a target rich environment. There is no way the MSM can sugarcoat his failures if Romney can get the message out in manner which limits the MSM’s time to respond.

I have no inside knowledge to back this up. It's just my sense of what the strategy is. If Romney's attack never materializes, then he will have run one of the worst campaigns in history. I hope this is not the case.
