There’s no rationale for known suicides to be up only 15%, but greater increases in things like poisoning (from increasingly bizarre drug use?) and falls (more elderly, more drug use, etc.) to be attributable to suicides.
Poisoning and falls are a separate category of accidental or unintentional deaths, not suicides. Probably due to an aging population, greater use of prescription medications, maybe more older folks living alone etc.
