That’s a postitive step. And this is what will happen next: AQIL will identify the leaders of today’s march, and car bombs will go off outside of their homes and businesses.

Bolsheviks don’t screw around with mamby-pamby Mensheviks, to stretch an analogy.

I remember some hopeful “peace marches” in Lebenon over the decades. They always ended with car bombs, assassinations, and tears of frustration.

“The militias, which started forming soon after the February 2011 uprising against Colonel Qaddafi, emerged as a parallel and often menacing authority after his downfall, seizing territory for themselves and asserting their authority over the fledgling government.”

This is BS. The provincial militias have existed for years, including when Kaddhafi was in power. I would really like to see the NYT stop jerking out disinformation. The Libyan interim government was composed of militias, organized by the No. 1 militia leader, Osama al-Juwali.

al-Juwali organized the different militias and mustered them into the new Libyan army. This is no bloody secret.

I hate the NYT on so many different levels and am frustrated that these commies never show up within 100-miles of where I live.

Meanwhile in Pakistan the Government declared today a holiday and that ginned up the demonstrations against the US.

The Internet will destroy Islam.

J. Christopher Stevens, who was considered a hero in Benghazi because he worked closely with the rebels who toppled Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi last year.

Obama didn't seem to be aware of that. Of course, their is no hero but the Omnipotent Obama.

This isn't a story, it's a white house press release.

Galvanized by anger over the killing of the popular American ambassador

In a show of mass frustration at the armed groups...

...Stevens, who was considered a hero ...

The people have spoken.
Or should I say "the folks?"

Seems the NYT is spinning the headline by indicating the Libyans are ‘pro-American’.

I think it’s more like the regular folks there are fed up with the militant groups and are making an effort to drive them out. .....Think of it as an American town deciding that the local gangstas have caused too much trouble and they rise up and drive them out. ....jmo

I saw the headline: Pro-American Libyans

Thought to myself, this has to be satire. Then I saw that the article was ran in the NYTimes.

If I may be so bold, can I equate Pro-American Libyans to Pro-American Muslims? I spent time in both Afghanistan and Iraq. There are some that would love to come to America and live the life they see on the internet: Jersey Shore, American Idol, you know-all the important stuff. Do they want the American Dollar? Yep. Do they want to be able to go by vegetables and not worry about getting blown to bits? Yep.

But I have never encountered a ‘Pro American’, anywhere in that part of the world. And I spent the better part of 5 years there. Maybe there a bit different in Northern Africa.
