Unfortunately, when I begin receiving medicare benefits and was in need of Prescription benefits coverage, I was told that I had to take AARP in order for that coverage. I was told by my agent, that the supplement to Medicare is AARP only. Apparently, the AARP has the market sewn up. There is no other company out there. If anyone knows of a lower cost alternative, we’d love to hear about it. We HATE the AARP. Unfortunately, with the ever rising costs of medication, it’s the only one I can afford right now.

uuumm no. You can buy a medicare supplement and med Part D drug through hundreds of different insurance co's.

You need to fire your agent for crappy information. AARP uses United Healthcare for their insurance carrier. What about BC/BS, Humana, Aetna on and on.
