Republican vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)was not well received at a gathering held by the American Association of Retired Peoples on Friday. After Ryan said the first step to strengthening Medicare is to repeal President Barack Obamas Affordable Care Act, the crowd erupted into boos.
After promising to repeal Obamacare, the crowd jeered. I had a feeling there would be mixed reactions, said Ryan amid the chorus of booing.
It weakens Medicare for todays seniors and puts it at risk for the next generation, said Ryan to more booing.
You may not have heard this side of the story, said Ryan, after detailing the Medicare funds stripped in order to fund the ACA. The law turned Medicare into a piggybank for Obamacare.
You dont have to take my word for it, Ryan said. Ask the chief actuary for the center for Medicare and Medicaid services.

If they are reachable at all.
BTW,do you have a link to that speech in its entirety? Would it be a good site to send to well-meaning maybe/maybe not Obama-leaners?
I do that every time, and write on the paperwork I send back to them, to not send me any more of their crap.
“THEY WON’T ALLOW YOU TO QUIT. No matter how many times you tell them to STOP mailing you stuff. They will never, ever remove your name.”
They took my name off their list. You just have to call them out on being the commie pinko’s they are, loud enough!
I have no trouble doing that. No aarp junk since 2007.
If they provide a self stamped envelope I return it all to them..I do that will all Liberal junk mail..even the GOP..and they have stopped sending me anything..
They will when you return the post paid envelope pasted around a brick or other heavy object.
I know about senior insurance and AARP stands to make a bundle off of Obamacare, the Seniors are going to be screwed but that is not AARP’s problem. AARP will be given special registration privileges.
You are partially right.
It’s just means he’s over the target.
Give AARP members a few breaks on show tickets and diner passes and you have them believing anything you tell them. Part of the entitlement crowd who think the government owes them freebies. 4 more years of Obama and there will be no need for an AARP.
Ours stopped for 2 1/2 - 3 years and just recently started up again.
I won't bother stopping it again since my wife likes a few of the articles in the magazine (not the left-leaning ones) and if they want to spend their money on my wife's reading material that's fine with me.
I was a longtime AARP member. Some years ago I was in a dispute over a retirement account. The dispute involved a substantial amount of retirement funds. I asked AARP for help but all I received was a kiss-off. It was then I really started to see AARP for what the organization was all about and going to. Didn’t pay dues for years and kept on getting the blurb magazine. The last year or so they haven’t bothered me. It would bother me if I found out AARP was still using my name to puff up it’s membership hype.
The political/regulator class folks of the AARP joined divorce/cohabitation interests against traditional men and fathers during the ‘90s, so you know its main demographic (feminists and their SNAGs: sensitive New Age guys).
Have fun. Enjoy the slide.
I had a pleasant experience quitting AARP.
After calling to quit about three years ago, AARP promptly mailed me a check refunding the balance of my prepaid annual dues.
I’ve only received one solicitation from AARP since, which I simply ignored.
Brilliant!
I will try this!!
AARP...American Association of (Socialist) Retired People.
When I saw this, I was just going post: NO EXCUSE, seniors...
AARP is not your friend and must be put out of business...
Sme folks that make MacDonalds hide the sweetener packets.
They booed when he brought it up and then at another point but then they let him speak and there were no more booes.
