You might be on to something here...freeze the wages of these actors and actresses at $75,000 (still above average wage earners); and have the excess turned over to the One to re-distribute as he sees fit...

Oh I know what this picture’s from! This is from “Night of the Hunter”, with Robert Mitchum playing the evil preacher Harry Powell! This movie was creepy because partly the atmospherics (black and white film) and Mitchum’s chilling performance! Also, he sang as he was riding along looking for his stepchildren so he could find them and kill them!

I can think of about ten films that transcend the medium, like “Vertigo” and “2001.” “Night of the Hunter” is one of them.
As you mentioned, his pursuit of the children is chilling. Other unforgettable images (spoiler alert!) include a female victim’s hair “blowing” in the river current, and the opening shot of a woman’s legs protruding from a basement bulkhead.
Highly recommended.
