Washington, D.C. - Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement after Republicans blocked the Veterans Jobs Corps Act, which would have created jobs for returning veterans and put in place programs to help them reenter the civilian work force. Republicans blocked the bill with a procedural vote of 58 to 40, which failed to reach a supermajority. All 40 votes against the bill were cast by Republican Senators:
The least we can do for veterans, after they fought for this country abroad, is to ensure they never have to fight for a job when they come home to Nevada, or any other state. Yet, Republicans stalled and eventually blocked the Veterans Jobs Corps Act with one procedural excuse after another. My colleagues have played politics with all types of common sense measures, just because those measures are supported by President Obama. But blocking a veterans jobs bill is a new low, and truly disappointing to me and to tens of thousands of service members.
Each year 200,000 brave members of our Armed Forces reenter the civilian workforce. This bill would have eased their transition to civilian life with job training programs and priority hiring for first responder jobs as police officers, fire fighters or rescue workers. Once, a proposal like this would have sailed through the Senate with bipartisan support. But today my Republican colleagues put election-year partisanship ahead of the men and women who risked their lives to protect our freedoms.
As if they give a good G**D*** about veterans. The bill was probably tied to some wild-spending boondoggle that Harry just forgot to mention...
I heard from a reliable source that Harry Reid is a pedophile, a child pornographer, and likes to diddle little puppies.
I can’t reveal the name of my source, but it has to be true, otherwise he wouldn’t have told me.
I don’t want the left to turn being a veteran into a welfare type thing.
Getting out of the service means that you are young, healthy, fit, well trained and disciplined, have a great work record and good character credit, have been making good money and eating well, have healthy teeth and good shoes, and probably a good car.
You shouldn’t need anything from anyone, instead you are starting off with advantages.
Chunks spewed.
What? If he were that respectable, we would have heard about it before now.
Harry, how about selling it to the FEC, huh? While you’re explaining to Them why You were off in Canada grubbing money outside the US.

Rand Pauls opponent, Jack Conway, has ventured outside the United States to raise cash from trial lawyers.
Conway headed north, to Canada, for a meeting of trial lawyers from whom he wanted cash.
The trial lawyers ponied up. Conways campaign said it welcomes support from across the country, which Canada is not.
But it wasnt just Conway. The mob banker from Illinois, Giannoulias, went too and money was raised for these Democrats, most of whom were present:
Michael Bennett running Colorado
Dick Blumenthal running in Connecticut
Robin Carnahan running in Missouri
Roxanne Conlin running in Iowa
Chris Coons running in Delaware
Brad Ellsworth running in Indiana
Lee Fisher running in Ohio
Paul Hodes running in New Hampshire
Charlie Melancon running in Louisiana
Elaine Marshall running in North Carolina
And, of course, Harry Reid.
Raising money, spending money, and supporting people in the United States is, like with Barack Obama, beneath them. Theyd rather hang out with Canadians to raise money from trial lawyers than their own fellow Americans.
This is pitiful. Weve gone from Buddhist temples to actually leaving the United States to raise money for Democrats. And one of them acts like its just another part of the country. Um . . . no.
Hey Mitch McConnell: How ‘bout growing a pair for a change and offering a blistering response.
{crickets}
Better get those ballots out to our servicemen and women right away so they can vote to protect their interests, right Harry?
Trying to add our vets into their 47%.
I cant reveal the name of my source, but it has to be true, otherwise he wouldnt have told me.
Nice this story from a reliable source should be passed along.
I hope that Reid's Mormon friends in Nevada work their tails off for Romney this year.
“The War is Lost” - Harry Reid’ April 2007
The reason it was blocked is because there was no need to add another $1 billion to the VA budget in the Budget Control Act. Sessions wanted them to cut something else out somewhere else. Of course, the little weasel Reid is politicizing this.
US Senate - Providing jobs for the senile and insane for over 200 years.
Proof that Democrats will throw anything at you.
The $1 billion bill was to have paid for itself with new revenue over 10 years. Republican senators say the bill allows for more spending at the Veterans Administration than what was agreed to in the Budget Control Act, which is why they raised a point of order.
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) said these types of pay-go bills are part of the problem of the growing national debt.
The question in my mind is, will we at some point in the future recognize the hole were in, Coburn said on the floor Wednesday. When we find ourselves in $16 trillion of debt and we pay for a five-year bill over 10 years, we make the problem worse.
