“Wesam Abdel Warith, the president of a popular Salafi TV station, al-Hekma, responded by calling for a demonstration at the US Embassy. He was joined by another Salafi sheikh, Abu Yahia, who in 2011 was a key instigator for escalation of an alleged Coptic female convert to Islam who was kidnapped by the church. This incident led ultimately to the attack and burning of churches in Imbaba, Cairo, in May of the same year.”

When one reads the full article it states the Salifi were present but it’s interesting that two of the blind sheiks sons were present along with the sheiks brother yet the author of this article coats them as peaceful demonstrators yet says nothing about getting the blind sheik released. Other articles from the ME state the Libyan Salifists have changed and are now peaceful. They’re apparently the group who worked with the ambassador.

Something that struck me about the protests in Cairo were a number of protesters wearing Guy Fawkes masks. How many of them were there due to the efforts of western community agitators?
