Maybe he thought it would be an easy grab: an unlocked door, a purse on the kitchen table.
But before suspected burglar Marty Mark Childs could get away, a woman who lived at the St. Paul house angrily demanded to know why he was there.
She forced him to the floor, knelt on his back and called for her daughter -- who held Childs at gunpoint until police arrived.

“SUSPECTED” burglar, my rear end.
Guess he was just a long lost relative they didn’t recognize, and took the purse to leave them their inheritance inside of it.
Yeah, that’s it!
he said “the cops sent me”.
we have to take his word for it.
Skipping across the dial on the way home from work this evening, I stumbled upon WCCO and their version of this story.
At first, they tried to make it sound like a good-news story until they interviewed law enforcement about the incident.
Law enforcement “checked out the gun and it’s owner”. They found that she “had some formal training and did have a conceal and carry permit”.
No, she did NOT have a conceal and carry permit. There is no such thing, in the state of Minnesota. It is a “PERMIT TO CARRY A PISTOL”.
And, by the way, you don’t need a permit of any kind to protect and defend inside your home or your mom’s home. It would appear that she lives with her mom, so it’s her home, as well.
You don’t need a permit ANYWHERE on your property. The only thing that law enforcement could have have been checking into is weather or not she was a felon in possesion.
WCCO, clueless, uninformed and biased...as usual.
I was moved to write to WCCO (WDFL) concerning their biased coverage of this story. I pointed out the flaws in their story. I was not rude or angry. I do not expect a reply. If I do get one, I’ll post it here.
imagine if DFL were still there reading the story.
“Poor black man held hostage by crazy white woman after trying to return purse he found”
To clarify my last post, it was WCCO radio news. And no, I’ve heard nothing back as of yet.
