OK, I'll admit that I do engage some of them, especially the undecideds, to find out what issues matter to them so I can mark it down in the Notes section. However, I have worked for years in politics and am comfortable questioning people carefully to find their hot buttons. The campaign does not expect this, just be a pollster. I want to give them the best information I can.
If you are worried about rejection or rudeness, I suggest this is a great experience for you to get used to it. Remember, if the caller is rude or rejecting, IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU. It is a reflection of their own problems and attitudes. This will be a healthy experience to help you grow.
