A senior advisor to the Chinese government has called for an attack on the Japanese bond market to precipitate a funding crisis and bring the country to its knees, unless Tokyo reverses its decision to nationalise the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu islands in the East China Sea.
Jin Baisong from the Chinese Academy of International Trade a branch of the commerce ministry said China should use its power as Japans biggest creditor with $230bn (£141bn) of bonds to impose sanctions on Japan in the most effective manner and bring Tokyos festering fiscal crisis to a head.
Writing in the Communist Party newspaper China Daily, Mr Jin called on China to invoke the security exception rule under the World Trade Organisation to punish Japan, rejecting arguments that a trade war between the two Pacific giants would be mutually destructive.
Separately, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reported that China is drawing up plans to cut off Japans supplies of rare earth metals needed for hi-tech industry.
The warnings came as anti-Japanese protests spread to 85 cities across China, forcing Japanese companies to shutter factories and suspend operations.
Fitch Ratings threatened to downgrade a clutch of Japanese exporters if the clash drags on. It warned that Nissan is heavily at risk with 26p of its global car sales in China, followed by Honda with 20pc. Sharp and Panasonic both have major exposure. Japans exports to China were $74bn in the first half of this year. Bilateral trade reached $345bn last year.
Mr Jin said China can afford to sacrifice its low-value-added exports to Japan at a small cost. By contrast, Japan relies on Chinese demand to keep its economy afloat and stave off irreversible decline.
Its clear that China can deal a heavy blow to the Japanese economy

Those Chinese... always playing fair. /SARC
Go ahead China...show the world what you are.
Let’s test his theory and isolate China, don’t stop with Japan. They wanted to trade with the World, do they want to stop now?
The Chinese are thugs. That is their personality plus they are communists. It’s going to happen sooner or later.
They’re totalitarian thugs but they’re communist in name only. For all practical purposes their system of government is fascist.
Go ahead China. You’ll get your ass handed to you again.
In the Middle East US embassies, ambassadors and Marine bases are fair game for pillage and murder... it's Beijing's turn for a cheap shot!

China also recently took the Paracel and Spratly islands between Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines. Most of us havent been fully informed about the One China policy or the history and culture behind it.

The Peoples Republic of China -- exposing a giant flaw in the world financial system regarding trading with an oppressive communist government. China, please continue. Don't stop with your plan to take down Japan financially. Move on to the United States. Expose the foolishness of the free trader crowd and of stupid naive Western governments next!
That’s a very scary thought. My wife works on Yokota AB.

How much of Apple’s resouces are in China? War would dump Apple. Zero’s response would be to apologize and bow to Beijing/sarc?
Then Congressman Panetta and DeLacy exchanged letters over many years almost all of which dealt with defense and foreign policy issues. Many involved requests by DeLacy for information, policy papers, etc., which Panetta went out of his way to supply.
What Panetta hopefully did not know was that in the year before this correspondence began, Hugh DeLacy had been in the Peoples Republic of China meeting with three men, all at one time accused of having spied for the Soviet Union. One of them, Solomon Adler, was at that time, reliably reported to be a senior advisor to the Chinese intelligence services."
It's a tangled web we weave.
The Han Chinese, who are the ruling class and the majority of Chinese, have a two thousand plus year history of being utterly ruthless. We see this in Tibet, the Japanese are soon to experience it, and our day will come too. This is exactly how things will go when the Chinese want Taiwan, they will attack our financial markets, in various ways, but the effect will be the same as if our country was nuked. Our economy, which is already teetering on bankruptcy, will self-destruct. You will be bartering for any and/or everything you want. Bartering, in and of itself is a highly inefficient way to conduct business. Our companies will be unable to trade with international businesses, as we won’t have any currency to complete the transactions. You might think gold and silver will be enough, but there is nowhere near enough gold and silver in the world to conduct business on the scale that is currently conducted. It will spell an economic depression that will give new meaning to the word, and the depression of the 1930’s will be reflected upon in nostalgic terms compared to the depression the Chinese can cause.
We do know the stock market crash of 2008 was caused by a foreign government, or a cabal of very powerful hedge funds. This was reported on by the CIA in congressional hearings which were swept under the rug by the propagandists posing as mainstream journalists. If I was betting, I’d bet that it was done, by the Chinese government in a well coordinated attempt to replace the US currency as the world currency. That is their immediate goal, it is shocking that so many in our government can’t see who the real enemies are, and are so blinded as to not be able to do their jobs properly. This threat from the Chinese should be all that would be necessary to alarm a responsible government.
