“And their laws are not applicable here now or ever.”

If the publication reaches Egypt (which it did when they published it on the Internet), I would not travel to Egypt if I were the film producer. There is an indictment. When they get jurisdiction over the body, then they can convict.

For example, English libel laws are very different than ours. An American can be sued in England for a book that is protected in the US. It has happened. It will happen again.

The interesting question is what will Zero and HRC do if Egypt requests extradition? They will sympathize in their hearts with the Islamists and would be delighted to get the producer out of their hair. But if the old media ever publicized an extradition of Americans to Egypt in this situation, it would not go well for them with the public.

OTOH, to refuse a request for extradition would require them to assert the supremacy of the 1st amendment over hurting Muslim feelings. That is not a position they would be comfortable with.

Thats like saying that the Nazis can sentence any Jew once they came across one.

It still isn’t legally binding to assert, nor are the 10,000 other things that we as Americans do here, that do not conform to Sharia Law.
Are you saying that Iran has legal precedent to kill Rushdie?

BTW, your example is civil law and it isn’t the same at all as issuing arrest warrants for American citizens.
At least there is legal basis for such civil proceedings under International Law - unlike what you are positing.
