Electability is what is at issue for the Democrats. Nobody ever accused them of having morality.

When Torricelli was going to face certain defeat in New Jersey - they pulled out Lautenberg to replace him at the last minute - in direct opposition to New Jersey law!

He is now Senator Lautenberg.

So the issue isn't so much that Akin isn't as bad as Clinton or Frank - it is that he is an unelectable as Torricelli - but not as smart, and not as principled.

Torricelli would have won, but for the Democrats dumping him. Why, because he said that Gore should not demand a recount in just a few counties in Florida. If he did he would lose, Torricalli was right.

Torricelli was a popular guest for the Democrats on the Sunday morning talk shows, until he criticized his own party, the Democrats.
