I drove by the site nearly every day it was under construction.. Acres of trees were felled to make room for this monument to green energy. I wonder how much carbon dioxide was reprocessed naturally into oxygen by those trees and if their loss was subtracted from the carbon footprint reduction projections for the solar farm.
According to another article I read, Apple is planting trees elsewhere to replace the ones they cut down. Don’t have a cite, so I don’t know how reliable that is.
Pictures from before they started indicate that about 50% of the area was wooded. But, there were a lot of complaints from neighbors about the smoke. They burned a lot of the cleared trees and brush on site.
