Corporate cash paid DNC’s arena fee

Though President Barack Obama had instructed convention organizers to not use business money for the actual convention, Dan Murrey – head of the city’s host committee – said Thursday that contracts signed in early 2011 allowed for his group to pay the arena license fee from either of two funds.

But its contract with the Democratic National Convention Committee also called for the host committee to raise $36.65 million to pay for the actual convention. Making that job harder: the restrictions imposed by Obama.

“We’ll delineate all of that when the time is right,” Murrey said. “Honestly, we’re still tabulating things. Invoices are coming in and we’re still in that whole cleanup process.”

Money and the DNC

• $36.6 million: Amount the Charlotte in 2012 host committee contractually agreed to raise, to give to the Democratic National Campaign Committee to pay for the actual convention. Unlike past conventions, new fundraising restrictions imposed by President Barack Obama called for not accepting corporate cash, contributions from lobbyists or political action committees or individual donations of more than $100,000. The host committee could accept in-kind corporate contributions and unlimited donations from labor union treasuries.

• $12-$20 million: Amount the Charlotte host committee was believed to be raising to pay for events designed to showcase Charlotte, including parties for media members and delegates and a CarolinaFest uptown on Labor Day.

• $17.7 million: Amount the Democratic National Convention Committee received from voluntary donations of $3 by people who checked a box on their federal tax returns. The Republican National Convention Committee got the same amount.

• $50 million: Amount appropriated by Congress for Charlotte to cover convention-related security expenses by CMPD. Tampa, site of the 2012 GOP convention, received the same amount.

Now the IRS will audit the employees to see if they pay taxes on their settlement and Obama will get half.

Great. Now we find out we’re paying through the nose to pay for the campigns of the very dictator who is taking away our rights of free speech and protest, trying to destroy the Constitution one bit at a time, increased taxation through Obozocare, raised the price of gasoline to the highest levels I’ve ever seen in my lifetime, turned our nation into a police state which is about to go socialist, embraces and bows to Muslim nations that are using subterfuge to storm our embassies.... Okay the list could go on for pages but you get the gist...

And he wants us to pay for his re-election campaign?!! Is he out of his damn mind. Anyone that votes for him is being deceived or just clearly delusional and naieve. I don’t know any real men ( soldiers, police officers, firemen, blue collar, business owners, blue collar workers that work hard for a living) that would vote or him. Now in San Francisco and Hollywood that’s a different story.
