I actually hate the term African-American. Those born in this country are Americans - period!! Why the hyphenated words? Just because some of their ancestors came from Africa, doesn’t make them African, only by descent. Why shouldn’t we all use a hyphenated name, such as German-American, Irish-American, etc. Its time to stop this nonsense. This is done to clearly identify those of a minority group.

By the way, I’m not sure I like the term black either. Some of those I’ve met have a very pretty brown skin color. Why not call themselves browns? See how silly all of this is?

-—Agreed. And I don’t think the Federal govt should ever, EVER be allowed to ask or record one’s color or ethnicity on any type of application, document or license. It should be a totally color-blind, “equal protection” for all system of government.
