That is a monster of a storm. Hoping for the best for all in the path. At that windspeed and current path, I feel also for the people of North Korea..I’m afraid their current government won’t even let them know it is coming..

A violent super typhoon in the North Indian Ocean, named "Sanba"I'm guessing this is a mistake. I think they meant North Pacific Ocean. That is what the diagram shows.

North Indian Ocean???? Seems to me that it has been headed northwest within the Pacific Ocean!
Good luck everyone!

Looks like it’s going to miss Japan, but those things are just barely predictable.

Weather Underground says the storm has weakened to 145 MPH, still a strong storm though.

I think they meant North Pacific Ocean IIRC the easternmost section of the Indian Ocean is a good deal west of the Korean Peninsula. One thing that just occurred to me is that if it hits *North* Korea with 170mph winds it will *destroy* the few signs of modern civilization they now have.If it's as bad as predicted this could be very,*very* bad.

Wowzers!!! Thats dam near the strength of a tornado the size of a typhoon.
That tidal surge will be worse than a tsunami.

I was on Okinawa for a Super Typhoon in 1980. The thing lasted three full days.

Oh, man. This is gonna be a bad one. The worst thing I have to worry about is snow and ice during the month of January.
Well, my thoughts and prayers with any Freepers in the part of the world. Stay safe.

I lived in Okinawa for 11 years, total.
This is the second huge typhoon for them in a few weeks time.
Luckily, most of the housing is built to withstand these big storms.
I miss that place.
