NEW YORK--Mitt Romney denounced an anti-Muslim film that is stirring unrest in the Middle East, even as he stood by his condemnation of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo for its implied denunciation of the film.
Speaking to George Stephanopoulous of ABC's “Good Morning America,” Romney said he still believed it was "inappropriate" for the embassy to put out the statement, issued as anger rose in Egypt on Sept. 11 over a film that ridiculed the Muslim prophet Muhammad. He said the embassy should have taken it down after protesters breached the embassy grounds. The same day, attackers in Libya stormed a U.S. consulate and killed four foreign service officers, including the ambassador, Christopher Stevens.

His statement is fine by me. He basically says the film is not cool but stands up for the First Amendment.
Just when he was acting like a leader...he backs down.
He denounced it in the mildest terms and defended the 1st amendment.

Chris Matthews was already ginning up another controversy by asking why Romney hasn’t denounced it. We all now know how the “journalists” (LOL) conspire to badger him with their talking points. He beat them to it. Let’s keep the focus on obama’s ineptness.

No matter how badly it was made, it does speak truth.
The movie, that may or may not exist as anything other than an ad for a movie, is simply a scapegoat for Obama and Hillary, and their failed policies. Romney should continue to make clear that while the possible movie can be used to inflame violent people looking for an excuse, it isn’t the real problem.
Oh I still think that Romney will win (likely big), but it drives me crazy that his instinct in politics is usually to back down some.

for some reason, people on our side want to hate Romney so they take an out of context headline from the MSM about a Clinton official interviewing the Republican nominee as something to be taken seriously.
What he said was reasonable and presidential. He supports the right for people to create the movie but probably wouldn’t do it himself because he finds any attack on anyone’s religion, no matter how small, as something that shouldn’t be promoted.
Lighten up, this is reasonable. what should he do? Rent a a popcorn maker, grab a few cases of pork rinds and host a viewing party on the national mall?
Unfortunately this is the Mitt Romney we all know.

Why can’t he learn how to throw the media’s questions back in their faces the way that Newt Gingrich does? The media keeps trying to steer him onto topics they think might damage him and he keeps leaning right into their punches. All he has to do is say he’s not concerned about the film, or whatever topic, because they are larger issues to discuss, e.g. Obama’s handling of the attacks, the ongoing war on terror, Obama’s anti-terror policies, etc. If he doesn’t learn to do that he’s just going to waste so much time talking about what the media wants to talk about, which will never be about topics damaging to Obama.
