NEW YORK--Mitt Romney denounced an anti-Muslim film that is stirring unrest in the Middle East, even as he stood by his condemnation of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo for its implied denunciation of the film.
Speaking to George Stephanopoulous of ABC's Good Morning America, Romney said he still believed it was "inappropriate" for the embassy to put out the statement, issued as anger rose in Egypt on Sept. 11 over a film that ridiculed the Muslim prophet Muhammad. He said the embassy should have taken it down after protesters breached the embassy grounds. The same day, attackers in Libya stormed a U.S. consulate and killed four foreign service officers, including the ambassador, Christopher Stevens.

All he’s doing is taking a talking point away from the media. He denounced it - now that case is closed. Now he can move on with attacking o’s foreign policy.
Romney on ABC: But I can tell you the presidents a person that a lot of people like. I dont dislike him myself and wish him the very best.”
This will teach the ABR folks alright!! Go get em’ Mitt. What leadership!!!!!
Oh gezzzz, we are screwed!
We have to be aware that the media is in the phase of the campaign where they will attempt to divide us. WE MUST STAY FOCUSED!!!
he might have just re-elected Obama with his spinelessness
If only he’d added, “I also disliked when they put the image of Jesus in a jar of urine and called it ‘art’. But, now, as then, the First Amendment is there to defend unpleasant speech, not just speech you agree with.”
I have no problem with this. I “denounce” the film because its stupid, hell, I denounce Michael Moore’s stuff too. But thats a far cry from the mealy mouthed apology that came out of the embassy. I understand the position the embassy was in, but that statement was awful. It was certainly weak on the First Amendment, one of our most treasure rights. We should NOT come across sounding like we apologize for having it.
It’s official. Romney is one of the two people who watch Chris Mathews.
Correct. This was smart. The media were trying to make out he supported the film. All he said was he disagrees with the content. That’s fine. People should stop jumping to conclusions
A concerned newbie threatening to not vote for Romney? *yawn*
Mitt Romney denounces anti-Muslim film
WTF is wrong with Romney? Why is he retreating? Good lord.
Oh yes, by all means take our minds odd the disgusting dog and pony show occuring with the return of the bodies from Libya. Obama, Biden and Clinton looking solemn while “Nearer My God To Thee” plays in the backround.
Well, they also played that song when the Titanic was sinking. I pray that is a good omen.
I can’t stand Michael Moore but he has a right to make all the stupids films he wants and stupid people have the right to see them.
It isn’t Romney’s place to denounce the film. It’s his job to beat Obama.
He’s not. He is saying he disagrees with the content. It was the smart thing to do. He still condemns apologizing for it, which is what Obama has done
Correct. Obama is playing a bumbling game of checkers. Romney is playing chess. You can be sure that at the next press conference or interview Romney did they were going to hammer him with “why aren’t you denouncing the film?” and that talkiing point would dominate the next few news cycles.
No change here...still won’t vote for him.
In the End Days you are given only bad choices.
Sarah Palin said essentially the same thing when Rev Jones threatened to burn the Quaran. She said that Rev Jones had a right to do it, but he shouldn’t do it, and no one wet their pants.
