President Barack Obama will travel to Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington on Friday to welcome home the remains of U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and the three other Americans killed in an attack on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
"The President and Secretary Clinton will attend the Transfer of Remains Ceremony marking the return to the United States of the remains of the four Americans killed this week in Benghazi, Libya; the President and Secretary Clinton will deliver brief remarks," the White House said in a statement.
Obama's attendance, announced at the last minute, came as protests spread at American diplomatic facilities across northern Africa, the Mideast and Asia. Demonstrators stormed the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday, tore down the American flag and replaced it with an Islamist banner. The embassy in Yemen came under attack on Thursday.
The president has been working the phones with leaders in the region, calling those in Egypt, Libya and Yemen to urge greater security for American facilities. He has also ordered special Marine units tasked with protecting—and, if necessary, evacuating—embassies and consulates to both Libya and Yemen.

Obama must want to replicate Reagan's Challenger moment, but he failed. The Middle East is in flames and there are demonstrations elsewhere including in London. And yet they have the temerity to suggest this was all due to a video.
Ambassador Stevens and his colleagues were killed by a carefully planned terrorist attack on the 11th anniversary of 9/11. The cause was not a film or any other pretext to explain what has become a protracted war between radical Islamic fundamentalists and Western values. There was no film to precipitate the flying of airplanes into the World Trade Center, the bombing of the USS Cole, the shooting at Ft. Hood, the blowing up of Kobar Towers, the attacks against our embassies in East Africa, etc. The list is long not only against US interests, but against other countries as well. The violence is being perpetrated overwhelmingly by Islamic radicals against other religious groups. Many Muslims have also been victims. They need no excuse or provocation from us to attack us. There is nothing we can say that will placate them save adopt their world view.

Did anyone see the picture on Fox? A smeared blooding fingerprints on a column. It looked like someone was trying to hang onto it while be dragged away.
They meet the bodies then blame the movie. Even Lieberman said this has nothing to do with the movie.
msnbc says there are now protests in 27 countries caused by the movie.
Now off to New York for an evening with Jay-Z and Beyonce...
