I really wish that the politicians would not try to elevate this section of the population to something they or anyone is not. Most of these people have little education and are reliant on government assistance to live. We cannot make them what they are not. It takes generations (if at all) for illegal immigrants to assimilate into the American society. They maintain there roots in Mexico and South America. Most have no desire to take advantage of what America has to offer except what is free (health care, food stamps, etc).
They are not the hard working people we keep telling them they are. They drag down our schools and neighborhoods to a level that’s acceptable in Mexico. We cannot change their culture. And we should not lower our standards for them. Nobody wins that way.
