WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal authorities have identified a Coptic Christian in southern California who is on probation after his conviction for financial crimes as the key figure behind the anti-Muslim film that ignited mob violence against U.S. embassies across the Mideast, a U.S. law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Thursday.

The person who produced this film is disgusting. I'm skeptical whether he is a Coptic Christian as he may have claimed. I am convinced that the Obama administration's only possible motives for revealing his identity are evil. It is inexcusable to violate the privacy of this person, except in a court of law, even if he is responsible for a phenomenally terrible movie that was used as an excuse for serious violence.
