Let's assume Obie's National Security, CIA, military et al briefers are Americans and recognize threats which should be addressed for the good of the country. They would recommend action that Obie would have no intention of implementing. The good of the country be damned.

After daily rebuffs of the security expert's recommendations, they might start to think: "what's up with this guy? He's not on our team. " Obie exposed, game over.
