Many Americans were upset when solar-panel maker Solyndra filed for bankruptcy last September owing taxpayers more than $500 million, but retiree Robert Grady Jr. was different. The more he read about the failed company, the more irritated he became.
Finally, weeks after the bankruptcy case began, Mr. Grady did something hed never done before. He filed a claim in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. It turned out to be the biggest single claim in the case $535 million but it wasnt on behalf of himself. Rather, Mr. Grady, 57, made the claim on behalf of U.S. taxpayers because he said he didnt trust Department of Energy lawyers to look out for taxpayers interests.
The retiree said he wasnt looking for any money. He just wanted the loan money returned to the U.S. Treasury. Now, after more than a year, the bankruptcy case finally is grinding to a halt. Among the thousands of claims filed in the case, Mr. Gradys is perhaps the most unusual.
Im not a lawyer, and Ive never consulted a lawyer, Mr. Grady said in a recent phone interview. I just think the taxpayers are getting shafted.
Mr. Grady filed his $535 million claim on a one-page handwritten form submitted to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware on Nov. 11, 2011. In response to a question with regard to the basis for his claim, he wrote, Money Loaned by DOE, representing U.S. taxpaying citizen.

Will the next Libyan ambassador please stand up?

Solyndra is partly owned by Kaiser-Frances a Tulsa gas/oil company. Is it possible it is the same Tulsa based company that BO’s great grandfather Rolla Charles Payne worked for and is the basis of the Madelyn Payne-Durham Trust he has listed on the schedule E form of tax papers posted on the WH site?
Obama inherited a trust from his grandmother? I thought she was just a poor, hard working, typical white woman who lived in rented quarters all her life!
She was head of the escrow/trust department of the bank. Her apartment was on the twelth floor (penthouse). Her father died in October 1968. The “family business” meeting was in December 1971....Just in time for probate. Papa was not just a bookkeeper he was an “agent”. Agents arranged mineral right leases for oil/gas company. It was customary to take a small percentage (1/10 of 1%) in future revenue of wells in leiu of immediate payment.
I have a long article written that I’d like to put in activism and challenge others to do more research. Just always mess up posting.
WOW! Tbanks for posting, hoosiermama. BTTT!
