Two US Navy warships are moving towards the coast of Libya, two US officials tell CNN. The destroyers are the USS Laboon and the USS McFaul. Both ships are equipped with tomahawk missiles that could be used if a strike was ordered. Tomahawks are satellite-guided cruise missiles that can be programmed to hit specific targets.

Political theater. The destroyers will have no impact except if they have a helo that can quickly evacuate our people.

Locking the stable door, at best. But mostly political theater to show that Obie is paying lots of attention.
Maybe they’ll put Kaddafi back in charge. Oh, wait. He’s dead.

My guess is a bunch of deserted tents will be bombed this month. Followed by a tough guy -in- chief speech.

They’d really understand if we still had Battleships to put on their coast to shell the Butts.

What will be interesting to watch will be how Obama handles the sequestration report now.
His plan of how to apply the $600 B in defense cuts was due last week. They said they would publish it this week.
Bambi's now trying to appear strong. How are those cuts going to look in the wake of this disaster?

This will be some more Clintonian tough-guy theater - lobbing some missiles at camels and then some chest pounding. The same weakling approach that eventually led up to the WTC 9/11.

Wag the Dog, divert attention away from something else that they don’t want Americans to see.

I expect that there is a team heading to Benghazi to recover the bodies of the Ambassador and the other victims. These two ships are probably there to provide cover and/or a quick getaway in case the mob tries to interfere.

Tin cans are useless.
Send in the “Iowa” and the “Wisconsin”
Give ‘em some 16-inch thunder.
Maybe even a Tomahawk or three.

What the heck do they think a couple of tin cans are going to do. They only carry a handful of BGM-109s and their 5” popguns aren't going to do much against sand. DDGs just don't have the magazine capacity for a sustained bombardment. if we had one precise target to strike perhaps. But we don't.
