Do I see a massive breakdown in national security out of this? Of course I do. Make no mistake, American embassies and consulates are American soil. Coupled with the threads about Obama not attending national security briefings, up to and including yesterday, this has to be one of America's darkest moments. Either there was no intelligence in advance on these demonstrations (something I find impossible to believe), or his national security team made little to no effort to communicate the urgency of the situation. For, obviously, we can't count on him to be proactive.
What I now wonder is, who is going to follow up on this?
