Mitt Romney on Wednesday stood by his criticism of the Obama administration for its early response to the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, even as he and President Obama mourned the murder of four Americans including the U.S. ambassador in a separate attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
Romney said the administration's initial response to the attack in Cairo was "akin to apology" and a "severe miscalculation."
Both assaults were linked to a video being promoted in the U.S. that ridiculed Islam's Prophet Muhammad. The U.S. Embassy in Cairo at first issued a statement saying, in part, that it condemns "the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims -- as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions."
The Romney campaign issued a statement overnight calling that response "disgraceful," prompting criticism from the president's campaign. The Obama campaign accused Romney of launching a "political attack" as reports were first surfacing that one American had been killed. By Wednesday morning, the death count was at four.
Romney, as he condemned the "outrageous" Libya attack during a stop Wednesday in Jacksonville, Fla., did not back down from his criticism of Obama.
"I think it's a terrible course for America to (issue) an apology for our values," Romney said. "An apology for America's values is never the right course."
The Obama administration reportedly disavowed the Cairo Embassy statement, but Romney said Wednesday that "the embassy is the administration."
He said the disavowal "reflects the mixed signals they're sending in the world."
Romney went on to critique Obama's overall foreign policy, calling it a "hit-or-miss approach." Romney and his surrogates have been stressing foreign policy after the president, in his nomination address last week in Charlotte, called Romney and running mate Paul Ryan "new"

Romney should have added, “And if anyone dare criticize me for opposing Obama, let me remind them of the words our current Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton once said, ‘I’m sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.’”
Now RAMP IT UP!
The evil Marxist knew and told the his Libyan brethren where to move the Ambassador!
Members of the Libyan Security Team moved our peeps and then told the mob where they moved our peeps.
The Marxist has blood on his hands!
RIGHT ON! RIGHT ON! RIGHT ON! RIGHT ON!
Finally Romney grows some balls. Now if he’d condemn Obama for the way he has ignored Netanyahu in the past and told both him and Ahmenijhad he’d back their efforts (speaking out of both sides of his mouth and deliberately lying to one side). This man is clearly anti-Israel but he knows he needs all the Jewish and the churchgoer’s votes he can so he’s lying through his teeth and would have Ahmenijhad bomb Jerusalem into oblivion if he could. Obama is a pathological liar and most likely the AC
I am curious if the newsies have asked either Romney or Obama if Romney’s security briefings have begun. They should have started by now. Have they?
I recommend that we encourage Mr. Romney to stay steadfast and not back down.

The above is a contact form for citizens to make suggestions for the campaign.
Keep “O’s” feet to the fire on this and ALL his failures.
It's a pattern by now.
Conservatives MUST remain firm because “O” must not score more passes from the MSM and the GOP. ENOUGH!
Good for him. He should not back down.
Romney is right on target. We should never apologize if our freedom of speech may have “hurt someone’s feelings” in another country. Foreign countries have to provide very strong security for our diplomatic personnel, otherwise we should pull our people out of those countries and just communicate diplomatically by teleconference.
Obama’s foreign policy, a “hit-or-miss approach.
So far it’s a 100% miss.
“An apology for America’s values is never the right course.” - Romney
Well said.
Obama criticized Romney before he came out and criticized the mobs that made the attack.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton sounds like a hostage victim reading a statement praising the LIBYAN GOVERNMENT THAT LET THIS HAPPEN!
Wow. It’s 1979 all over again.
Romney was great...watch the tape and the way he handled the press
I want Romney to keep it up and show America what a gutless wonder Obama is. I also want Romney to ask if the marines in Libya were ordered to stand down like the marines in Egypt. Hell, I even want to know if the marines were locked and loaded or were they just carrying apologies. Obama is the worst POTUS ever, including that piece of garbage LBJ.
Another big question here is why didn’t we have a sizable group of Marine Guards to protect our embassy personnel in Libya, which is a dangerous and unstable country? Marine guards can’t hold off a huge mob forever, but if properly armed they can hold them off long enough for more Marine reinforcements to arrive. After a week or two of mourning, the House Republicans should start a public investigation to get answers to this question.
People need to call their members of Congress and news media to support Romney.
Coordinated MSM attack to destroy Mitt.
For Romney, this should be easy peasy. Just trot out Ronald Reagan’s speeches during the Iranian Embassy crisis, brush in some updated words and go with that.
The MSM attack is not going to work. The more the MSM publicizes this graphic example of incompetent management and anti-American statements by this pathetic administration, the more they will hurt Obama.
Oh. That one is going to roll right into November.
When his mother was sick that’s how 0bama got her to the hospital. Sick parents are such a PITA when you have a book tour ya know.
