Today, ABC News/Washington Post released a poll showing a virtual dead heat between Obama and Romney.
The survey was conducted September 7-9 among adults with subsamples of registered and likely voters.
Obama does show a convention bounce gain among registered voters, with a 6% advantage over Romney. In other words, Obama has more support among voters who are probably not going to vote.
A more accurate assessment of likely voters have the candidates tied with no bounce: Obama registers with 49% of the vote and Romney at 48%.
Unfortunately, the topline results are based on a sample of registered voters, rather than likely voters, so important tactical questions about image, job approval and confidence are difficult to analyze. One thing is certain, this election is about GOTV efforts, as evidenced by Romney's 4% jump among likely voters. If Obama runs a successful ground game and turns out voters not inclined to head to the ballot box, he could take the election.

Yeah people, if you want to live in a 3rd world hellhole with a command and control police state just pull the lever for Obama again.
If you’re not smart enough to see what’s coming after 4 yrs of this little boys presidency then you deserve what you’re gonna get.
The 6% figure (registered, rather than likely voters) was the one announced by Diane Sawyer on the news tonight.
There is no practical purpose served by polling two such sub-samples. It would add significantly to the expense.
Unless the contractee (in this case, WaPo and ABC) is afraid they won't get the result they want with the LV sample but believe the RV sample will serve as a fail-safe.
More clear evidence of the media using polls primarily for propaganda purposes, rather than as legitimate information.
So does this mean that the Kenyan’s toe suckers in the state controlled “media” have just been jerking our chains since the DNC ‘RATFEST and Sandy Fluke Condom Extravaganza ended?
That's exactly what they did. The only possible reason for two sub-samples -- one RVs, one LV's -- was to get the result they wanted.
If the LVs didn't do it, they were betting that the RVs would.
Interesting. Thanks for the link.
Have any of you volunteered to work phone banks. Obama phone banks out of California reports it has hit 70,000 calls. How motivated are you to defeat Obama?
