On the days of September 8th and 9th, Gravis Marketing, a non-partisan research company, and Capitol Correspondent conducted a survey of 2,238 likely voters in the state of Virginia. The survey covered the same questions as the August survey, which comprised questions regarding the presidential election, Virginias senate race, the direction of the United States, and the effect of a libertarian candidate on Romney and Obama. Overall, from August to the most recent survey, Obamas 44% to 40% lead has turned into a Romney lead of 49% to 44% in the most recent poll. Interestingly, Obama didnt lose votes, rather Romney gained previously unsure voters or voters that previously planned on voting for a different candidate.
Who is Ahead in the Senate?

Romney or Obama will be the next President.
Spending all your time trash talking Romney, as you do, does one thing help, help re-elect Obama.
Find it odd that supposed “social conservatives” around here are busy campaigning here to reelect a candidate like Obama who is not only pro gay marriage but also favors taxpayer funded abortion on demand up to birth.
You have not responded at all to my perfectly reasonable question.
Had you expressed skepticism and not blathered on about The Disaster’s sure victory because of these ginned up polls I would have never even asked it.
Nor have I exhibited any theatrics or emotional responses. I have not called you a dumbass or claimed you are a brainless plant or that you are a ass kissing commie. I have been as polite as can be, would you prefer insults?
Whenever you've got the time. ;)
#131, #139.
Again: you're patently "fishing" for something more specific -- above and beyond the point already long since established -- for whatever reason(s) of rapidly dwindling interest to me.
Last time pays for all: re-phrased query, sans all accompanying vaudeville, or kindly find someone else to huff at.
Otherwise: bored now.
Let see Obama only increased the national Debt by 1/3 in his 1st 4 years at the same time actively endorsing tax payer funded abortion on demand up to birth and gay marriage.
Apparently in your little bubble world Romney is to be condemned for only agreeing with you 85% while 0bama is to be ignored despite disagreeing with you 100%
And yet you call everyone else around here "stupid" for not buying your absurd world view.
Point to it, and then forward it.
“Were winning: Good poll!
Were loosing: Bad poll!”
Actually when a poll has 5% yes 5% independents, it is not a matter of who is winning or losing. It is a suspect poll. That is what we dealt with yesterday.
Now if the internals of this VA poll have some problem like that, we sohuld doubt it. Have you looked at the internals of this poll?
That the ticket Kent, just squeal louder. Don’t let any inconvenient facts penetrate your little Pro Obama bubble world.
By all means, I am publicly encouraging you to forward said "inconvenient facts," re: my politics, to the proper authority.
Why that isn't actually taking place, as of this writing, is of sincere and profound befuddlement to me.
You have "inconvenient facts." You have "evidence."
Go to town. ;)
Quit pestering people. Continue insulting our FRiends and you’re liable to earn a well deserved timeout. Do not ever think you’re speaking for me.
Thank you most sincerely, Jim. ;) And I’m genuinely sorry you had to be bothered with all of this currish yipping and yapping, to no rational or productive end.
You are right, of course, but I was merely making a general observation, on the polls and our all too predictable reactions to them. I don’t believe in polls, if “believe” is the right word to use, as they cover nothing but hypotheticals, with no prices of any kind to be paid by any of the participants, and no consequences for anyone lying, joking, or changing their mind down the road.
Yeah, I meant to add I have not heard of the group that did this poll so I am not completely sure what to make of their poll either. I do not know if they are GOP group, maybe too optimistic, a Dim group, engaging in a physop, or what they are.
Still this poll does tend to support what I believe, NC and maybe VA are falling in line for Romney.
Actually, given the current toss up states, Romney could get to 270 despite losing Ohio, Florida and Virginia. To do so requires that he win North Carolina, New Hampshire, Michigan, Wisconsin, Colorado and either Nevada or Iowa.
Now I doubt if Romney wins those states he would lose Florida, Ohio and Virginia, but the arithmetic is what it is. Of those state I would guess Pennsylvania is the longest shot for Romney.
“Deal” is too strong a term. What you’re proposing may not work under VA law. I’ll think about it though.
Well, I don’t know what region you’re in but in my neck of the woods, tidewater, seen a whole lot more interest in willard of late. But it’s been like the last week to 10 days.
As for tim kaine, I’ve seen no interest in his campaign as compared to George Allen. I think I’ve seen 2 signs and stickers to a deluge of signs for George Allen. And that doesn’t surprise me. Even with the macaca comment, what I thought was a notsohotso campaign, and a well-known and qualified opponent, George still only lost by a thin margin in 2006. It wasn’t a repudiation, it was an eked out win by Jim Webb.
Upshot: I think George Allen will win absent he or his campaign pulling something really stupid, or a complete diaster for willard that suppresses turnout.
As for the Presidential race, it’s still too close to say but I think this poll is about right with regards to the trend but maybe a tad overstated for willard. I do think it’s beginning to trend willard. That could change. But I think that ultimately it’ll break hard one way or the other. VA isn’t going to be a 2 point victory for one of the candidates in my view.
Thanks Jim.
I intend to do my part to back it down a notch. We’ll see enough furniture thrown in the coming weeks.
I was at a Republican precinct meeting in Northern Virginia last night. A big part of the problem is there are no Romney signs, bumper stickers, etc. available. Our precinct has been looking all over the country to get some, but they are nowhere to be found. Pretty poor planning on the part of the Romney campaign.
Registration has only a tenuous association with affiliation. As i’ve pointed out several times we have had blocs, or factions, shift allegiance ~ besides, in Virginia where we have NO party registration Ronaldus Magnus won anyway through the simple expedient of ALL the Republicans voting for him!
Come on, get serious ~ abortion is more than a Socon issue ~ it is also ultimately a Social Security and National Defense issue.
I"m already working on the 2016 primaries ~ this is a lost year, and hopefully if we get enough Republican turnout, Congress will no longer be a toy for the Democrats to play with.
