Real estate mogul Donald Trump said Monday that Republicans have "got to get tougher" in order to prevail this November, saying he thought their handling of President Obama was "unbelievable."
The one thing I have to tell the Republicans, theyve got to get tougher," Trump said during an interview with Fox News. "If they dont get tough, theyre not going to win this election.
Trump went on to say that Republicans were "pandering" to the president, and compared their current strategy to that of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in his 2008 presidential campaign.
Well, I think there are a lot of ways of getting tough," Trump said. "I think theyre pandering to Obama. I think theyre being so nice to Obama. Its unbelievable. And John McCain made that mistake. He absolutely made that mistake and you know theyre just afraid to attack this man and he should be attacked.
The reality television star conceded that he thought Democrats might have run a better convention and benefited from not sharing headlines with the landfall of Hurricane Isaac.
Lets face it, I think the Republican convention first of all was hurt by the hurricane, or lack of hurricane, you know the hurricane never really hit heavy in Tampa but I guess they probably had to do what they did," Trump said. "But the fact is that the Democrats gave a great convention, theres no question about it.
Trump added that he felt that the Republicans did not include the right mixture of voices at their party convention mentioning Sarah Palin by name, but also possibly referring to himself. A Trump "surprise event" planned for Monday at the Republican convention was canceled because of the storm.
"I think frankly I would have liked to have seen Sarah Palin speak," Trump said. "I would have liked to have seen some people speak that werent invited to speak and you know I think the Republicans did not have the right speakers. They had a lot of people that people say, who are they, where did they come from? "
Shades of McLame!
When the Mass. RINO pulls off his mittens and puts on the boxing gloves I will raise an eyebrow. If he lands a hard right to that impostors Economic (trainwreck) record he will get my attention. If he throws an uppercut followed by a gut punch to the Kenyan Klown exposing his lying, criminal, shady past and the slew unconstitutional E.O. the jackass has written I’ll be impressed. But it aint gonna happen.
Myth would have to be *gasp* politically incorrect!
Trump is right in theory, but he’s so full of it...he spends all his time saying that Romney has to get tough and then praises Hussein and the Communists for running a great convention..ummm no Donald...how about you stepping up and saying how terrible the convention was, taking God out of the platform, not recognizing Jerusalem, Sandra Fluke....How about mentioning how absolutely pathetic it is for the sitting President to have a rapist and womanizer run cover for him at his own convention...
Romney’s friends and not-friends are still waiting for him to begin his campaign ~ whatever it is.
Whether or not the polls are fabricated is not relevent.
There is no more time for gutless wonder republican’ts.
Not now, not ever.
We either crush the enemy of freedom, or it will crush us.
no one cares about that crap anymore and you get misquoted and set up.
So in other words we are supposed to play by their rules? The BC issue is what led many people to question the fairy tale that team Obonehead advanced. And Rush calling that slut a slut well what can we say? Do we continue to allow the left to define women from what occurs below their waists? No I do not think so. It demeans me.
I said something about this idea of trying to win a general election up against the Democrats with nothing but negative ads on broadcast TV.
To tell you the truth I have yet to see a Romney ad at all ~ not since last Fall. The only way I knew he was running was by tuning into the debates ~ otherwise none of that stuff ran here, or I just didn't see it. And, still haven't seen it ~
One does suppose he had some gigantic rallies here in Fairfax County like Sarah Palin did ~ but so far no news about that.
Does anyone know if this guy has actually started a campaign?
How could I possibly disagree?
You fix that by enforcing voting laws, and you forget about these independents. If you can't get Republicans to vote for you how do you expect Democrats to at least stay home?

You captured it exactly right.
Perfect.
True; Reagan was unique. But he didn’t pussyfoot around, and he wiped up.
I don’t buy the idea that independents are turned off by straight talk.
If only Romney would go after Obama like he did conservatives during the primary.....
well I was at a family reunion this weekend. Lots of people, politically the center-of-mass is right of center. Many right-leaning independents and what I call run-of-the-mill GOP’ers. Most don’t like the strident talk (I hear a lot of “Why-can’t-we-all-get-along?”) and it was a lot of women were voicing that so maybe the good cop bad cop approach is right.
Do you recall that in 1991 “kinder and gentler” GHWB boycotted the funeral of Lee Atwater?
Getting tough and angry doesnt necessarily mean Romney take it out of others hides, but he MUST get more aggressive and sell himself as a President that can fix this mess. Attack, attack attack !!!
Offense wins the game!
The real battle has already been won. They beat out the conservatives. Now all they have to do is lie back and let the country just pour their love out on him.
Response: He is correct.
Comment: Is Romney another left wing Republican sell out? I am beginning to think so. "The Divine One" is chewing up Romney alive! Another McCain!
I did not remember that. I remember vaguely when he died because the media enjoyed a few last jabs.
It amazes me that so many Republicans fall for this soft approach. Obama has a wildly vicious political team. So did Clinton. Neither get tarred for it. Reagan had one. Bush43 had a somewhat aggressive team, but not in the Atwater tradition. We’ll see what the Romney team has in store. They definitely have the capability if they chose to use it. I am confused by the absence of their awesome rapid response team in the late spring and early summer.
