According to many customers, sites hosted by major web host and domain registrar GoDaddy are down. According to the official GoDaddy Twitter account the company is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. Update: customers are complaining that GoDaddy hosted e-mail accounts are down as well, along with GoDaddy phone service and all sites using GoDaddys DNS service.
Update 2: Anonymous is claiming responsibility. A member of Anonymous known as AnonymousOwn3r is claiming responsibility, and makes it clear this is not an Anonymous collective action.
The service Down For Everyone Or Just Me says the GoDaddy company website is down as well, but Ive been able to access it just fine. However, it does indeed appear that sites hosted by GoDaddy are down including those who only have their domains registered through GoDaddy but use other hosts.
Our commercial and non-profit sites are down, but our clinical patient portal is still up. Email is very slow.
Same here; website up, email nada
Mine too.
Is it just a coincidence that two out of two candidate sites where I tried to make donations today were “server not found”?
I believe we can count on more of this until election day.
I’m with WhosYourDaddy.com and it seems I still am.
I wonder if these are the same hackers that attacked Nachumlist before.
Yeah it’s just a coincidence.
I’m sure this is affecting candidates across the board if it’s a DNS attack aimed at a web hosting company.
Most campaigns are likely not tech savvy enough to know about or care about uptime availability or have back up web hosting. I would be amongst the first to declare this conspiratorial but it’s just a godaddy.com thing.
This is nothing more than aiming a shotgun at a big publicly known company that does what they do and pulling the trigger regardless of which web sites come down.
I am unable to retrieve my GD hosted email.
They weren’t fans of their superbowl ads?
BTTT
sorry for being too flippant about the scenario,, I hear ya on the economic impact, Sounds like thousands of sites affected, I bet they double triple check their procedures for maintaining network integrity in more after this .. when DNS crashes, Life is bad .
I used to do ‘mission critical’ support for callcenters .. when the calls don’t flow.. series kaching damage happens..
