If a Nobel Peace Prize falls into that category, the precedent was set by Henry Kissinger.

He’s not the first American to accept a Nobel Peace Prize, not by a long shot. Teddy Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore and several others have, just off the top of my head. Did he deserve his? Of course not, but that’s not the point.
