Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign announced early Monday that it raised $111.6 million during the month of August, its single best month of the campaign and the third straight month it has raked in more than $100 million.

President Obama’s campaign has not announced its August fundraising totals yet, but he has been significantly outraised by Romney over the last two months.

I agree with you. McCain could have won if he was a smart politician and had a campaign worthy of supporting him. To this day, I have wondered how well he would have done, if he had voted against TARP and had rhetoric worthy of a presidential candidate.

Without Palin, I think it would have been a blowout. His most infamous line in the campaign was that we had nothing to fear about Obama getting elected. That, I believe, was only 2 or 3 weeks before the election. The Obama campaign should have paid him a consultant's fee after that line.

I hope Romney makes a sharp distinction between the two. The ads released this weekend are really very disappointing. I think you can sharply criticize Obama (smash mouth in other words) without stepping over the line to where the ad appears cheap and cheesy.

I hope Romney has better ads in the queue.

you don’t know if these polls are BS. You probably said the same thing 4 years ago and McCain did lose and the polls were correct.

Romney is weak

Well, he was stronger than his primary opponents, wasn't he?

...”Romney is flush with cash, as winners tend to be, and is running against an Empty Chair”...

I wonder what kind of value Obama is gaining from having wall to wall campaigning from the Major News Media? I would think you wouldn’t need much money with that kind of advantage.

...”Are you aware Reagan was more behind Carter at this time in 1980 polls?”...

I well remember that on the very day Reagan won big, the news media was saying he would lose based on the polling.
Having said that, this is a different time with probably lots more voter fraud which we just saw an example of at the Democrat convention when the vote to put God back in the platform was clearly not passed. They railroaded right over that opposition and everyone saw it on TV. There you go. The cheating is now open and “in your face.”

He has to take a message to the people and he cannot rely on the MSM to be fair.

Amen to that!

The 2008 polls didn’t look like these. There are a lot of polls and it takes a careful mind to sort out the reliable from the unreliable. What’s crystal clear is Obama is not running away with it; the race is very winnable for Romney/Ryan. Stop being a downer Debbie and help them win.

B. Hussein and his PACS has announced via Twitter that he raised $114 million. Looks like we’ve been outraised by about $3mil.

Better to have all this bad news come out at once I guess.

We weren’t outraged by much, but he got a lot of new donors this month.

Romney’s camp did say they were going to slow down fundraising and do more retail politicking

Oh so the big poor mouth put on by Obama and the media was a lie huh?

BOSTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s campaign is reporting it raised $111 million in August to fund his challenge of President Barack Obama.

It’s the third straight month the former Massachusetts governor has raised more than $100 million. The figure represents his best one-month fundraising total.

Obama, however, edged out Romney, raising $114 million toward his re-election campaign. However, Romney has socked away more money for the general election campaign.

Obama is reversing a three-month trend at the time he needs it most, having spent heavily over the summer on advertising in an attempt to keep Romney at bay.

Both candidates are claiming momentum coming out of their national conventions over the past two weeks.

OPEC won’t let Obama go underfunded. He didn’t bow to the Saudi king for nothing.

And we all know that money can pass through so many hands that it becomes untraceable.

What did the polls show in 2010?

Wow. Who knew it was a Presidencial Campaign in 2010. Very few people vote in off cycle years. We were lucky. Not so lucky in 2006.

Since I'm from California, I will, of course, put out the lawn sign, etc. But my real contribution will have to be $$$ for races Romney/Ryan can win.

Much appreciated... hopefully someday you can escape that drain-circling liberal hellhole.

Well complimenting Bill Clinton at the DNC and yapping about how good parts of Obamacare is certainly doesn’t help does it?

No. It certainly doesn't. My wife and I went to see Romney in VA Beach this weekend. My wife is a family values conservative but is very, very, ambivelent to politics. She was very pumped to see Romney this weekend and has been more interested in this race than she's ever been in our 30 years together. LAst night we were watching the CNN show about Mitt and they came on with a teaser about how Romney said he likes some parts of obamacare. She immediately went cold as ice...and she's not the only one. If Romney starts backpedaling on repealing obamacare he can kiss any chance at victory goodbye.

I hope like hell it was a slip of the tongue. He has to know how important repealing obamacare is to any chance of victory for him in the fall.

Close. Lehman collapsed on September 14th. that was his high point on Intrade. His chances went down almost exactly in tandem with the collapse in the markets.
