Mitt Romney says Bill Clinton's speech to the Democratic National Convention "really did elevate" that gathering and that the former two-term president might even be able to win another four years in the White House "if the Constitution weren't in his way." Romney's comments, in an excerpt of an interview with Meet the Press, came as Clinton prepared to campaign for President Barack Obama in key swing states.

I think what mitt meant was that Clinton’s speech
was the high point of the DNC convention...
Only an clueless idiot would think there is no difference between a hard left Marxist and a pro America capitalist.
The first term of Obama was so bad that we need a second term....and the GOP-E is too scared to win....
The circular firing squad is reloading....
And this time, they won’t miss.
I had hopes (still do, sort of) that Mitt Romney would see the virtue of making and CLOSING the sale, that he is and would continue to be a much better man for the job of the US Presidency than Barack Hussein Obama.
But dammit, Mit, you are pulling your punches WAY too soon.
It just about has to be a knockout EVERY DAY right through the evening of November 5th, and wake up the next morning prepared to WIN the election.
I have no problem with him acknowledging the truth. Unlike some Freepers who are like little kids who always want to be indulged with explicit, emotional red meat statements, I see that as a subtle jab to 0bama. Romney compared Clinton with 0bama, and highlighted that the latter
I thought we want our side to be the adult, calm candidate who acts strategically? After all, Romney defeated the other candidates in the primaries, didn’t he?
Exactly. I have to wonder about anyone who keeps posting excerpts from Romney that hurt him and talk about skipping the vote.
The only way we can defeat Obama is to pull together behind Romney. We need to start having rallys against Obamacare and get the people fired up to get rid of Obama. We can't keep depressing the Republican vote and expect to beat Obama. But then that's actually part of Obama's strategy, to beat down morale until conservatives will stay home.
The ONLY idiot is the “conservative” candidate
who bestows PRAISE on the DNC’s people as
he SUES conservatives to get them off the ballot.
GET THIS STRAIGHT.
This was/is Romney’s to lose, and he is
ONLY in it for the money, fame, and his dietyship.
And his interest in imposing liberal issues
like RomneyCARE and the rest.
BUMP!! We could have been looking forward to REAL change in January from repealing obamacare to reigning in activist judges. Back to Our Constitution and all that it entails.
This is a disappointing thread. It’s a game of strategy to win votes from here on out, not a question of political ideology.
I’m with Mister Dem, Romney is taking lessons from John McCain whose similar campaign tactics helped him win his Presidential election.
I read some of the replies, so maybe it’s just me. It sounds to me that Mitt was complementing BJ as if he were the candidate, (the Constitution preventing a third run). If so it’s a real subtle but great dig a zero.
What in the world is the matter with our nominees? Romney is sounding more like McCain every day, and we all know how that turned out. Are they really so clueless as to think these compliments are going to change the minds of the Democrats? That will never happen. They are going to use everything they can think of to win.
Don’t bring a Boy Scout to a gang fight.
“Newt Gingrich, a brilliant, truly conservative candidate and a fearless campaigner with a track record of success.”
Oh you mean the guy that voted to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine twice in the late 80s-early 90? The guy that appeared in a TV ad with Nancy Pelosi to push the global warming agenda? The guy that’s been divorced multiple times? The guy that gave the Democrats the Bain Capital ammunition to attack MR with?
And every time the MSM put out stories like this, the dumb ones fall for it and start throwing their petulant little tantrums.
Exactly! It rattles the megla-maniac narcissist.
Romney is a liberal, a Democrat. Why does this surprise anyone at FR, knowing what we know about him? What did Ann Romney say-——in MA, they didn’t even know any Republicans?
It’s easy to get caught up in election fever and start thinking Romney is something he isn’t. But if you do, you’re deceiving yourself.
The guy who won a revolutionary conservative election that stopped Clinton’s gays-in-the-military/Hilarycare agenda dead in its tracks. The guy who balanced the budget and got federal spending as a percentage of GDP down lower than it was under all modern presidents including Reagan. The guy who forced Clinton to sign welfare reform, one of the only federal entitlement rollbacks ever accomplished, after 2 vetoes thanks to his ability to sell a conservative agenda to America despite the liberal media arrayed against him. If you ran a company, are you saying you would fire your star employee just because he got divorced?
Teddy Kennedy was the one who originated the Bain Capital attacks in the ‘90s Senate race when he trounced Romney. And with 200+ companies Bain ran to analyze, it’s an obvious fertile ground for attacks. If you were concerned about nominating a candidate vulnerable to attacks from his private sector career, Mitt Romney was not the guy to vote for.
Robert Rector, in the National Review article “Clintons Oratory Misses Truth on Work, Welfare” shows that, far from elevating the Convention, Mr. Clinton added further deception.
Well, it’s true. Bubba does make Democrats feel good, probably makes them feel better (and vice versa) than any of his female companions. And they would reelect him again in a heartbeat if it weren’t for the 22nd Amendment.
