Hes in a money crunch:
Todd Akins TV ads are, reportedly, being yanked from stations across the state because his campaign isnt paying the bills. KOMU-TV in Columbia says it received half of the payment for an ad buy, and when it didnt get the other half, it cancelled the rest of the ads. The station says its confirmed that other stations from St. Louis to Kansas City have been put in the same position.
McCaskill, meanwhile, is running positive ads about how moderate she is. I imagine the tone of the race will change markedly if Akin stays in past the deadline for him to get out.
Why would the GOP support a one issue idiot who only won the primary because of the support he got from from the democrats?
Jim Talent. He’s deep in the Romney camp and can save us.
How did you guess???
I'd be surprised if Todd drops out. I'd be infinitely-more-surprised if he chose Steelman to run in his place. He knows her, and her voting record, in Missouri; she is not a conservative.
No, he didn't count on dems to win. Missouri has an open primary balloting system. Dems can pick up a Republican ballot and vote for who they think is the weakest candidate they're told to vote for. If you were a Missouri resident and saw the deceptive McCaskill ads she was sending out, you would know what I'm saying. That is only one of the ways the dems work to steal elections in Missouri. But, I still believe Akin will beat her come November. McCaskill is so despised by the way she gave Obama his Obamacare bill and sold her soul to him in so many more ways, she will lose. And no, Akin is not a total idiot. Obama is a total idiot and the greatest threat to this nation. All this circle firing squad by some FReepers needs to be cooled down. Party infighting will only bring defeat.
LOL... you really believe there’s a difference between we and I in this case? Akin is used as Republican personified. As long as he’s still Republican candidate, the Dhims will always be able to generalize their attacks. And don’t try to blurr what he said about woman’s self mechanism against pregnancy with the party’s platform against abortion. It’s stretching. After all, Akin himself apologized for what he said, or at least for the way he said it. It means he acknowledged he should have said things differently.
Whatever.
Well let's see. Why not try the first sentence of the post you just "read."
I think he knew fully who would do the "replacing": not the rank and file, but the GOP-e.
I thought that was clear enough as to 'what made me think a RINO would take his place.' Seeing as there is no time for a primary, one would rationally think the Party would simply name a replacement. It seems more than likely that the SOS in Missouri would buy it. Hence, it's up to the Party leadership as to the nominee. Hence my conclusion that it would be a RINO. Wasn't that obvious?
Is Sarah Steele a RINO?
Absolutely not. What makes you think she would be the replacement nominee?
I have suggested several times that he make a deal to withdraw if he could name his replacement. That would be a win-win.
I wanted that too. Anybody with a brain would. Nor is there any doubt that the topic cam up with Mr. Akin. He didn't do it. As the nominee, he has the power to stay in, but not to name his replacement.
But he wont do that because, despite what he says, it is about him.
Akin had no power to make the deal we want. He would have had to go to the Party. If the GOP-e would rather lose than have a conservative nominee like Steelman win, then they'd have said "no dice" to such a deal as you propose. Akin would then have to weigh whether to let a RINO take his place and turn off the base, or take his chances that the people of Missouri would see through all this.
It may not be all about him.
>> Amazed that theres anyone left on FR to defend this moron. Easy Senate pickup down the drain. It is surreal.
Amazing there’s anyone on FR directly or indirectly promoting McCaskill.
re: I wanted that too. Anybody with a brain would. Nor is there any doubt that the topic cam up with Mr. Akin. He didn’t do it. As the nominee, he has the power to stay in, but not to name his replacement.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Not having that power to name a replacement is true; but that doesn’t mean he can’t try to negotiate a deal with the Central Committee. As I’ve learned in the business world, you never make a deal until you make an offer or someone makes an offer to you. Either party could make that offer if they are serious about getting rid of McCasKILL.
Where does he get the money? He already owes bills he cannot pay. Yes, many who have less money and been outspent have won. But he has negative money right now.
We do not know whether such an attempt was made. If one had, would you prefer that Mr. Akin air the fact that the Party would deny the second highest vote-getter? It would cause outright war between the factions at a time when it cannot be afforded. So I don't know what happened, but I do know that supporting Mr. Akin and sticking a thumb in the GOP-e's eye, at this point, would be a very good thing.
Then he needs money from SOMEBODY.
To control the vote in the Senate. Also, the majority party controls the Committees, sinking bills they don’t like and promoting those they want.
AND we would no longer need to bear the odious presence of that imbecile Harry Reid.
GOP E pissed off because Akin did not vote for Bush’s Medicare D or the No Child Left Behind debacle. Read some new polls on a MO forum and one shows Akin ahead and the other which is a liberal poll has Claire one point up.
As for me...I support Akin 100%!
God bless YOU. He is a good conservative man. More conservative than Romney or Bush. Akin is no fool..anyone and everyone can make a dumb mistake from time to time. I don’t see the gop turning their backs on Rove after the horrible comment he made about murdering Akin. I don’t see Rove being reprimanded.
Akin voted against Bush’s medicare D plan and the failed No Child Left Behind. Maybe Rove is still pissed about it.
Akin a rino? LOL that is not only a lie that is a damn lie.
KUDOS to you. It would take a total moron to vote for McCaskill who will do more damage no matter who is president over Akin who is one of the most conservative and Godly men in congress.
Rove is a fat jerk. Arrogant asshole.
bump
Notice the GOPe cuts off the money, apparently, when he catches back up in the polls
