For several years the left and their media minions have claimed that by bailing out Chrysler and General Motors, President Obama saved Detroit.
On Friday, the perilously liberal schlockumentarian Michael Moore debunked this in an article at the Huffington Post astonishingly saying, "No, he didn't."
"Last week, I said on the HuffPost Live webcast that we had all better start practicing how to say 'President Romney' because, living in Michigan, I can tell you that there's trouble here on the two peninsulas and it's not just because Romney is a native son or that we like to watch kids from Cranbrook chase down gay kids and chop their hair off," Moore wrote. "One recent poll here showed Romney leading Obama by four points! How can that be? Didn't Obama save Detroit?"
Moore answered his own question, "No, he didn't. He saved General Motors and Chrysler."
"'Detroit' (and Flint and Pontiac and Saginaw)," continued Moore, "are not defined by the global corporations who suck our towns dry and then split town to make more money elsewhere (except, of course, they continued to design and built crap cars, so eventually they didn't make the money at all). These cities in Michigan are about the people who live here, and in the process of 'saving Detroit,' Mr. Obama had to fire thousands of these people, and reduce the benefits and pensions of those who were left."

Wasn't he in the "X-Men Origins" movie?
(rhetorical question not directed at you, griswold3)
It's only because Moore hates capitalism (except when he makes his money) more than he loves liberalism.
Yep, Obama isn’t far enough to the left even for Moore.
Little Mikey is growin up!
Wasn’t Roger Moore the British actor?
Michael (lard @ss) Moore of Michigan is the one who did Roger & Me.
Damn you Obama! You made me have to agree with Michael Moore. Now I feel dirty.
His most honest film was Live and Let Lie.
Hey 0bama, you didn't build save that!
I have never read so much garbage in one sitting! Good grief! This Moore fella is really one sick pup. For him to be getting ‘nervous’ about Michigan, tells me that there’s a swelling undercurrent of ‘cleansing’ that’s going to drag all of this filth away from their positions of power and influence, come November 6th.
I hadn’t heard that - do you have a reference for that? I’d love to rub their noses with it ;-)
he saved GM and Chrysler??
GM is near bankruptcy and moving factories to Mexico and China and Chrysler is now owned by FIAT....
I was embellishing the story for fun but her invitations to MSNBC and others stopped flowing once she challenged Pelosi in her primary. I remember Rush joking about it. Looks like she was never invited back.
MSNBC fired Ugar Cyenk and replaced him with Al Sharpton for being critical of Obama from the left. Ugar is on a yotube video talking about it.
Think nothing of it.
I for one am happy to see the gun manufacturers doing well; it is an indication of so much more...
“City of Detroit (90% black) is continuously being saved by government stealing from taxpaying white Americans to dole out to parasites.”
I thought Detroit was the poster child for the follow-up to “If you rob Peter to pay Paul, you will always have the support of Paul”, which I guess is “If you rob Peter to pay Paul, it gets harder & harder to find Peter”.
Whites have abandoned most cities to blacks here in NJ, and now illegal aliens are starting to fill them (displacing the blacks in the process - politically, economically, demographically). The state has run out of white people’s money to pour into the cities, resulting in Newark laying off hundreds of cops and Camden (one of the country’s most dangerous cities) laying off all of them.
Thanks sickoflibs.
He saved the green and renewable energy movement by radically increasing the automotive industry’s...scratch that...the government’s CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards which are to be met by 2025 at 54.5 MPG.
However, look at what the automotive companies are selling and it’s mostly full-size pickups and SUV’s.
Where’s your Chevy Volt now, Obama? Wherever you thought WE were supposed to be going with it isn’t where the vast majority of car buyers are going.
Automotive engine-fuel technology is not broken and you couldn’t fix it even if it was.
