Actually...six thousand years sounds about right, if you think about the changes in the landscape when, in the time of Peleg, the earth was divided and the fountains of the great deep were revealed...I'm no creationist, but it seems to me that man witnessed the changes and recorded them; changes that are at the root of many religions.
