I am stunned to hear about the voice vote and the teleprompter.
I can’t believe he was reading a teleprompter to tell him what to say as he conducted the vote on that issue.
Do you mean to say that, a routine matter such as conducting a vote on a matter being considered by the convention has to be scripted?? I’m stunned.

Apparently the call came from Mt. Olympus, so there was to be no messing around.
The sequence of events makes sense, because the D flacks were flailing on TV, unable to present a coherent defense of the godless platform (see Dick Durban and Brett Baier).
Apparently, The One initially approved the removal, but he eventually came to understand that it was a PR disaster. Thank God he made the problem worse. Divine Justice.
It’s not surprising it was scripted, especially since they were determined to get the result they wanted. Villaraigosa just screwed up (badly) when he interrupted himself and called for a second vote. I’m sure the plan was to hope for a clear majority of Ayes, but to go ahead and pronounce it passed regardless.
It would really be fun to read some reports of the “behind the scenes” action after this fiasco took place...
