I’ve been there. San Jose is an inland valley city and surrounded by volcanically-active mountains. The coastal plan on the Pacific side is especially exposed to a tsunami threat - it’s quite flat for a fair distance away from the coast. Met a lot of good people there - hope they are okay.

Beautiful country along the coastline there. You’re correct...I’d hate to see it damaged.

I was going to point out that if you have an earthquake in Costa Rica, it is by default, pretty close to San Jose; not a very big country.
