I understand why some Freepers, stressing their opposition to Obama, advocate voting for Romney and then, on the day after the election, beginning to work to build a third party or to purge the RINOs from the Republican Party.

Unfortunately, if we keep voting for RINOs then the GOP-e will keep nominating them. The third party is here now.

If nothing else, Goode's presence on the ballot will help keep Romney honest. There's a limit to how much he can shake the Etch-a-Sketch when there's a conservative running against him.

Is Goode really a conservative or is he a Soros/Obama stooge? If he is such a good conservative why doesn't he run against a liberal in an election lower on the ticket instead of running a race he can't possibly win and his only effect will be to help Obama win Virginia and the presidency.

Anyone who thinks as you do has not paid attention. Obama has all ready made it clear he plans to rule by decree if he is reelected. We don’t have the luxury of being purists this year. You have a choice to live on your feet or die on your knees. Goode is a useless fool who does ONE thing, help elect Obama.

Yeah he’s going to keep Romeny “honest”, sure that’s the way to do it.

This guy must be an absolute creep of a stealth disruptor, who with no chance of being elected whatsoever would endeavor to deliver a key state to Obama.

And fools are going to tell us what a great service this is?

We really have zero time for this nonsense. Virgil Goode is an absolute nothing burger except maybe he can reelect a communist president.

We have a de facto binary political system. If you are a potiential Romney voter and vote for goode, you are voting for 0bama - in the same way the FL Nader voters selected W in 00.

Great! (not)

Well, if voting for Goode re-elects Obama, then we can all watch him try to make that $16T national debt $32T by 2016. I’m giving good odds he can do it!

Goode is a former rat congressman. He’ll likely pull more voters from Obama than Romney.

There’s also this:

Rep. Virgil Goode allowed the producer of a gay erotic film to use his district phone line to promote the film:

Goode will split the pervert vote.

R&R will take Virginia ;)

This election is realistically between a Republican whom is far more conservative than the marxist incumbent.

It’s Obama v. Romney. Romney is the only way we defeat Obama. No, he wasn’t my choice in the primary.

This Virgil Goode only serves to help Obama. Ryan served with Goode in Congress. Perhaps he can convince him to drop out of the race or the ballot in VA.

Goode’s presence on the ballot will keep Romney honest? Good grief. We all know what it will really do -— take away GOP votes. I don’t like RINOs either, but let us at least agree here to speak the truth about political reality.

Bush won in 2000 thanks to votes siphoned off by Ralph Nader. Nader didn’t keep Gore honest.

This country is going to have an economic collapse if Obama gets 4 more years. I don’t know if Romney can save it, but at least we’d have a shot. That means more government control, martial law, shut down of talk radio, censorship of the internet, food and energy shortages, and rationing. Five million more illegal alien voters for the RATS will rig the game for a generation. Thinking that another Reagan will come from the Obama disaster is folly. We may well not have a country left.

The third party is here now.

Goode's party will have no impact whatsoever outside of Virginia. Unfortunately for Romney (and America) losing Virginia could be all it takes to give Obama a second term.

Goode and those supporting his crusade are fools (unless these supporters are democrats, in which case they know exactly what they're doing).

Eagle forgot: Unfortunately, if we keep voting for RINOs then the GOP-e will keep nominating them.

If we keep voting for Romney/Ryan then in 2020 the GOPe will be nominating PAUL RYAN for President while the Constitution Party is still wandering around at the mall.

You may think the third party is here now but you are so sorely mistaken. Delude yourself all you want...VG will NOT even poll enough to move the needle on the graph.... less than 1% nationwide. But of course if all you want is a spoiler then you are well set.

Perhapos you don’t remember the fate of Ross Perot? He actually had a following and the money to do something. All he did was get Clinton elected with 43% of the vote. And that worked out sooooo well

The sound you hear is Obama, Biden and Axelrod popping champagne corks at the White House.

Conservatives and Republicans in VA will have to work doubly hard to keep Obama from carrying VA and thus win reelection, since Obama now will need 48% instead of 50% to win VA’s 13 electoral votes.

What irks me the most is that, for some strange reason, the guys who almost always end up running as spoiler candidates are not the conservative superstars who can make a principled stand, but some third-stringer who possesses no qualifications for the office he or she purportedly is seeking.

Take Virgil Goode as an example. He was a lifelong Democrat who was perfectly content casting the deciding vote in the VA Senate for whatever the Democrats wanted that day, and stayed a Democrat as conservatives in his party increasingly switched to the GOP. He was elected to Congress as a Democrat and was happy to vote for Dick Gephardt for Speaker. Only when it became clear that the GOP would control redistricting in VA after the 2000 Census did he decide to become a Republican (funny, he was untroubled by the Democrats nominating Mondale and Dukakis for president, but when he thought Republicans might stick him in the same district as a Republican incumbent he switched without skipping a beat). Goode continued serving in the House as a backbencher, sticking his foot in his mouth from time to time but not doing anything particularly noteworthy, and somehow managed to run behind McCain in his district and lose to a Democrat in the 2008 election. Virgil Goode would be no one’s ideal of a potential presidential candidate, but there he is, getting on the ballot in VA (with the help of the local Green Party) and trying to take enough votes away from the GOP to get Obama elected and “prove his point” (which I guess is “Obamacare should never be repealed”—at least that would be the likely effect of Goode getting 5%+ in VA).

I opposed Romney’s presidential candidacy in 2008, and fought tooth and nail against Romney winning the nomination in 2012, even running as a delegate for Rick Santorum. Unfortunately, Romney won. The time to “send a message” to establishment Republicans is over and done with: one of two men will be elected president—Barack Obama and Mitt Romney—and all of the “Nobama” voters need to vote for the same “Nobama” candidate to stop Obama’s reelection. We need Obama to be swept out of office, and Romney is the only person with a working broom. A vote for Goode makes it easier for Obama to win reelection.
