I have specifically avoided AA for years. As a subscriber to the “Limbaugh Letter”, I was treated poorly by AA from JFK to LHR on a few occasions. I switched to CO from EWR to LGW and IAH to LGW. For a while I used Maxjet too. My monthly “commute” from USA to GB and CZ lasted from 1998 through 2007 when I finally moved to GB. I proudly read my “letters” without incident after leaving AA.

I started flying in uniform in 1966 and believe me, they treated everyone like gold - even those of us on military standby.
But by the time I returned from VN in '68, people's attitudes toward the VN War (and VN vets) had changed significantly.
Were United's stews as opinionated as AAs? Eastern Air Lines? Pan Am? Perhaps.
But that was the last time I flew while in the service so, personally, I'll never know.
