Reality sets in when these families learn that their kids are at least a year behind in school. I'll never forget when my sister started seeing the light 15 years ago.
We had just moved to the Metroplex, and she visited us a week before school started. She saw the new elementary school my two oldest children were to attend, and spoke to the principal and a couple of teachers.
She returned home to Oakland to find the district didn't have enough money for desks for the students. When she told school officials what she saw, and asked uncomfortable questions of the administrators, they responded by saying "you must be talking about a white bread district."
She responded with a tart "my niece and nephew are Hispanic, and over 50 different languages are spoken in that school. I'm not buying your BS anymore."
And thus began the path of a new conservative.
It happened to California, the State that first elected Reagan.
I only hope California will continue to serve as the nation's magnet for communists, militant homos, illegals, parasites, and various and sundry goofballs of every kind. As long as there continues to be a GOP House firewall against the communists, normal, traditional, working American families should remain relatively safe. Still, that firewall cannot be counted on forever. As Dear old Dad always said, "Once the parasites outnumber the hosts, it's all over." That is exactly what we are seeing in old Europe.
