Tampa Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney misspoke this week when he said he believed abortion should be permitted if a doctor says the health of the mother might be compromised, according to the leader of one of the nations leading pro-life organizations.
Mitt Romney My position has been clear throughout this campaign, Romney told CBS News. Im in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.
Romney had not previously included maternal health, an exception pro-abortion activists have interpreted so broadly that it essentially justifies abortion under any circumstances.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, told American Family Radio host Bryan Fischer this week that she had spoken with a campaign official, who confirmed the former governor did not favor such an expansive exception.
If that were his position, he would never have received our endorsement, thats for sure, Dannenfelser said. I have heard clarification from his spokesperson, restating what his position really is, which is rape, incest, life of the mother. That is his position. Those are his exceptions.

Sigh.... Although I have disagreed much with those whom you name, to not know Romney's history, after all that has been posted even on this site, is discouraging.
Please don't post that nonsense to me.
How you logically conclude that I don't know Romney's history is beyond me.
The claim by another poster was that Romney was 85% conservative. For the sake of argument, you went along with that percentage as did I (for the sake of argument).
You then claimed that an 85% Romney was a trend down to which I simply pointed out to you that it isn't. I then gave the clear examples of McCain Dole, Bush, Bush II.
Anyway, here's how I see the situation.
Romney is running on a conservative platform and Romney has a liberal record as governor of Massachusetts. Now compare that to Obama, who has been a Marxist and who promises not to change.
shrink government wonder how that will work since he wants to replace obamacare with his own plans,
strengthen the military wonder how that will work since he is supportive of homosexuals serving openly,
stand up to Iran wonder how another war,
renew ties with our traditional allies (those whom Obama has scorned) wonder how he will do that, talk to them, invite them to the White House, give them more taxpayer money,
and wants to rebuild the economy by reducing taxes ) wonder how he will do that, it's not how he government in MA,
government spending wonder if he'll use the same plan as MA
and government regulation wonder if you are counting replacing obamacare with his plan in that.
That would be ideal.
As long as the Tea Party can hold on he will kiss our butts until his second term—which will not happen if we can help it cuz we know what a flip flopper he is so...
PALIN 2016!!! (in spite of the RNC rule changes last week)
No, I remember the day it happened Andrea Saul, the woman people attacked for Romney Care, issued a clarifying statement within 24 hours.
the Romney supporters here should tell us which conservatives they are actively supporting in their town/state. Or is it just Mitt? All things presidential?
ACTIVELY supporting.
Romney said he would repeal and REPLACE ObamaCare. He recently stated how proud he is of RomneyCare. Gee I wonder what he will replace it with.
this site should just ban mitt articles. Pro or Con. Conservatives should be focused on other things. House. Senate. State House.
U are what U read. U are what they write.
OH wawawawawaw
Listen you want to support Romney fine, but good grief have a brain cell and stop trying to make him into some he is not and will never be - a conservative.
But, hey all you got besides a liberal Romney is whining that if we who do not support liberalism (which is Romney) want a nanny state......no honey you got it all wrong.
The GOPe ushered in a liberal candidate and so called conservatives for reasons known only to them fell for it hook line and sinker, their only recourse now is abandon all reason and so called conservative beliefs then pretend Romney is a conservative.
Your presumption that people can’t multitask is funny.
Life of the mother can in fact be applied with the catholic ethic concept of double effect.
As long as the intent of treating the infection that is inherent to the ectopic pregnancy is to save the mother’s life... And not to kill the child the action is ethical.
Unfortunately... The secondary effect of the treatment is that the child, who’s life was already in peril, will likely pass away.
Years ago, Ann Romney gave planned parenthood $150.00 out of their vast millions. More to the point, planned parenthood is planning to spend millions out of its Action Fund to defeat Romney.
shrink government wonder how that will work since he wants to replace obamacare with his own plans,
"In stating what he would do for health care if elected, Governor Romney noted a 5 point plan. The first of these would be returning control of health care plans to the states. To do this, he would block-grant funds for Medicaid and the uninsured, and offer the states resources to help the chronically ill. Second, he would alter the tax code to give the same benefits that large corporations get for providing coverage to individual and small companies. Third, he proposes lowering government regulation by allowing people to purchase health insurance across state lines, lessening state regulations on insurance packages, and allowing small companies to pool into groups to lower cost. This would be coupled with a requirement that insurance companies provide coverage for people with pre-existing conditions if those people have consistently maintained coverage. Fourth, the medical liability system should be reformed to prevent abuse. Finally, Governor Romney states that health care should be made more like a consumer market and less like a government program. This is done, in part, by eliminating the minimum deductible requirement"

strengthen the military wonder how that will work since he is supportive of homosexuals serving openly,
They've always been there (as many of us know firsthand). They need to be held to the same standard of behavior re fraternization as everybody else. Throw the book at them if they cross the line.
stand up to Iran wonder how another war,
Ever heard of "Peace Through Strength"?
and wants to rebuild the economy by reducing taxes ) wonder how he will do that, it's not how he government in MA,
"This is politics, so there is hyperbole on both sides. And there's always disagreement about what can be categorized as a tax increase or cut.
The bottom line is that Romney cut some taxes as governor. But he also faced a big budget deficit when he took office in 2003, so he raised revenue as well."

I wouldn’t mind if you Pro-Obama types were banned from this site. The average IQ level would skyrocket immediately.

Get out of denial! You have two realistic choices. Romney or Obama. Choose!
“Well, it’s certainly fair to say that someone who opposes Romney finds it preferable to reject the 85% solution in favor of a ZERO-bama outcome.”
Keep in mind the 85 percent number is completely made up. That’s usually the case with pro-Mittens arguments. They just make up random numbers or philosophical arguments with a false premise. To be honest I can’t think of any issue where we actually agree with Mittens on, primarily because he changes his position so often and LIES so blatantly that it’s hard to believe anything that is contrary to his actual record, which is also full of lies and obfuscation. For example, his support of gay marriage on the sly in MA, even though he pretended to be publicly against it, while at the same time meeting with the log cabin Republicans.
It be nice if the Mitt Romney supporters who pull random math out of their butts could show me in his record and in his history of lies something I can agree with. Because, honestly, I can’t find anything.
“Nobody in their right mind would be supporting Obama because they believe in the Pro-Life cause. These Ron Paul Trolls have been doing this crap for months on end. They could not care less about the life issue. They are liars out to deceive the weak minded, out to destroy and make way for their savior Ron Paul in 2016. FURP.”
What’s funny about this is that you’re basically bashing the owner of this site who essentially agrees with every position Conservative freepers on this site have, and then you even throw in that we are liars out to deceive the weak minded. But yet, Romney is a liar out to deceive the weak minded, and you get mad that people point that out, including the owner of this forum.
