Being poor is not the risk, it is the outcome of the risk.
The foolish risks, taken by those who don’t graduate from college, have children before marriage, don’t stay married, refuse to work, and commit crimes.

Of course, this was written in 2005, before the democrat controlled congress led by Nancy Pelosi ruined our economy.
So the other big risk for inducing general poverty is voting democrat.
The federal government alone has 76 assistance programs.
The toleration of random shootings seems to be a newer thing. Decades ago, my mom knew ladies who lived in slums, and they never seemed to report that sort of trouble. (One of them, however, turned out to be a thief herself.)
Notice that this race-consumed dingbat equates having a business with being wealthy. Having had my own business and gone down the tubes after a 5 year struggle, I know it is not. I then, 10 years later, invested in my dot-com employer and, you guessed it, went bust again. So I could inform her about what risk is as I too went into poverty.
What I DID NOT do was to go on welfare or even draw unemployment. I found a low wage job and worked myself up again. I did not demonstrate, I did not complain but instead I prayed and got going.
FYI: I also know why there is and SHOULD BE ‘Capital Gains’ treatment of investments, have you ever spent a decade+ taking a measly $3k off your taxes? This is the flip side and now Obama wants to ‘normalize’ this income!
Probably lives in DC.
“Of course poor people lead riskier lives than rich people.”
The true “answer” to this issue is: Become successful and provide a safer life for you and your family. Did that not occur to these idiots? I guess it’s easier to whine than be pro-active.
Makes you wonder what constitutes an A in class?
PMSNBC.....
An address would provide new information on her perception of truth.
Or - she lives near O’s Chicago home.
“What is riskier than living poor in America?”
Risky? Any conceivable definition of “poor” will get free money/resources constituting 20x world median income. That’s hardly “risky”.
This woman will, no doubt, vote for a man whose policies will insure that that the economy suffers, and many more Americans will be poor as a result.
She’s moonlighting and still can’t get outta the slums? Why??
In this type of neighborhood, nothing is secret.
The whole neighborhood knows who is committing the crimes. knows who is doing the shooting, knows who is selling the drugs.
They unintentionally, or intentionally are aiding and abetting in the crimes by not acting as witness’s, either from fear or from being involved. Most times it is their own relatives who are guilty . You cannot stop crime without getting involved.
.
Wrong. . .there is no risk at all in voting Democrat. . .the outcome of voting Democrat, i.e. enslavement and dependency, is GUARANTEED!!
I absolutely agree with this woman. I haven't read the link to get the rest of the story, but if she doesn't say that the solution is making mega-success possible for all Americans willing to work hard, persevere, and reap the results of their efforts, then she is just another shrill voice.
It's more than just a rising tide lifts all boats, but it's having hard-working people be the rising tide. And, while some will become the mega-wealthy, there are millions upon millions who will raise themselves to a better standard of living and a better life for their kids.
Let the means of getting ahead be clear. Let it be broadcast that hard work, stick-to-itivness, and ownership are the keys to real security.
Part is also having a government that doesn’t try to drain the tide whenever they think it’s getting “unfairly” high.
Sadly, I think most blacks are blinded by hate and are lot to the GOP and its message of individual responsibility and the free market economy. You wonder if most blacks really want to be free.
The new battle is for Hispanic voters. I don’t know what it will take, but the GOP has to go after them. If the GOP can get even a consistent 35% of Hispanic voters, they will be in great shape going forward.
What’s more, if the GOP can make big inroads into the Hispanic community, it will force Dems to giving more places at the table to Hispanics which will not sit well with blacks.
