WH disses Clint Eastwood over anti-Obama speech

President Obama’s spokesman derided Clint Eastwood for his remarks at the Republican National Convention, in which Eastwood made a series of jokes at the president’s expense by pretending to conduct an interview with Obama while only talking to an empty chair.

“I wasn’t quite sure what I was watching,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said yesterday of Eastwood’s performance. He prefaced that dismissal by saying, “I’m a huge fan and admirer of Clint Eastwood’s work, both as a director and an actor.”

Eastwood made several jokes at Obama’s expense and that of Vice President Joe Biden (whom he called “a grin with a body behind it) during a skit that ended with a statement explaining why he thinks the president — whom Eastwood was excited to see inaugurated in 2008 — should lose his reelection bid.

The wind blown hair, verbal stumbling and repeated requests for what the empty chair had said was Jimmy Stewart (without the accent" to a "T" and THAT is what Clint was parodying. Go to You Tube and watch his speech and watch some of Jimmy in Harvey. Perhaps Clint should have said, “I have this empty chair here to represent barack “Harvey” obama"... for some of those that are a little slow on the take.

You're right. No one wants to associate that "stellar" comment with their star of the Dem Convention and former Pres. Maybe the "empty chair" routine, even the other jabs at the current one, but not that one.

They've not picked up on the "someone" who wanted to have a certain trial in NYC either!

The Dem “talking heads” and surrogates just can’t bring themselves to acknowledge that the entire world “got” Eastwood’s message loud and clear—and they have nowhere to hide.

A Tucson newspaper did an online poll: Did you like Clint Eastwood’s speech? The “Yes” vote was in the 90 percentile range. The “No” vote was embarrassingly low.

It was a bit of theater that pointedly attacked the weaknesses of Obama—and said what needed to be said—Obama needs to be fired. Watch as the Dems try to make their own skit with Al Frankin or some other Actor. It will not work a second time. They should move on—but it cut to the quick. Look to see Obama’s speech fall flat—he has lost his mojo.
