When people find out that Akin wins the senate seat, a lot of Republicans are going to be very sad. FREEPERS included.
I hope you are correct about his win. I surely would not be sad to see another dem lib hit the road.
Of course, when he gets to dc, he will be shuned by the establishment just like they did to all tea party people who arrived in 2010.
Even though I strongly believe he should drop out, I won't be one of those. If I were in his district, assuming he stays in, I would vote for him.
I think what Akin said was stupid, wrongheaded, and based on a spurious understanding of medical science, and I thought he should have resigned initially just on the general principles that our representatives ought to have enough sense to think before they speak - we have far too many politicians, and not enough statesmen in DC. He could have done so within the original window that would have allowed a decent replacement to be installed.
However, since Todd Akin has turned into the target of a nasty jihad by the GOP-E types, I have to admit, stupid comment or no, he has my sympathy. Frankly, I hope the GOP-E comes out of this with egg all over the pasty, triple-chinned faces.
By “stupid, ill-timed remarks”, I'm not referring to the substance of his infamous comments. The facts of the matter are still indeterminate. I mean that a savvy politician would know better than to make such incendiary remarks, in the midst of a critical national election, without laying any foundation beforehand.
The Dems have been desperate to make the election about anything but the economy. Akin has played right into his hands.
If this is any indication of Akin’s practical political skills — then, he won't be any help advancing conservative policies and programs in any political arena. Quite the opposite.
Only those Republicans and Freepers who are of the establishment. It wasn't what Akins said that they find offensive, it is who he is.. a tea partier who threatens their cozy existences. What he said only gave them the fuel to turn on him.

Intellectual honesty is a good thing. Why must you keep mischaracterizing what people believe here? Name the FReepers who will be sad. Come on, name them. They would probably like to know who they are. We come to this site because we are conservative. Almost all FReepers are pro-life, some more stringent than others. Let me help. -—> When people find out that Akin wins the senate seat, a lot of Republicans are going to be astounded, FReepers included.
We all want to beat McCasKILL. Many of us believe Akin has done harm to the pro-life cause, blown the seat, given the RATS an issue they will ride to November, and any money and time given to him is wasted. Since those are limited commodities, there are better places to put our time and money. Yeah, Todd, we really believe it when you say, “It’s not about me.” Nonsense. He worked hard to get to this position. Of course it is about him. He is not the only pro-life conservative. I will apologize in November if I am wrong and be pleased if I am wrong. I believe there are pro-life conservatives who could stomp McCasKILL. But he is not one of them.
BS!!! I love him!! Do you want to kill the baby of “rape’? What an idiot!!
Only those that voted for Romney because he is the republican nominee, not pro-lifers.
