The following is a transcript of actor Clint Eastwood's speech at the Republican National Convention on Aug. 30, 2012.
EASTWOOD: Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you very much. Save a little for Mitt.
(APPLAUSE)
I know what you are thinking. You are thinking, what's a movie tradesman doing out here? You know they are all left wingers out there, left of Lenin. At least that is what people think. That is not really the case. There are a lot of conservative people, a lot of moderate people, Republicans, Democrats, in Hollywood. It is just that the conservative people by the nature of the word itself play closer to the vest.
They do not go around hot dogging it.
(APPLAUSE)
So -- but they are there, believe me, they are there. I just think, in fact, some of them around town, I saw John Voigt, a lot of people around.
(APPLAUSE)
John's here, an academy award winner. A terrific guy...

I found a youtube link for the live FoxNews broadcast...

It’s even better the second time around!
Only thing that would have made it better would have been if he had had an empty suit sitting on the empty chair.....
It was original and funny! Very effective.
Obama relished bashing G. W. Bush at every turn for four years. Nice to see somebody turn the tables on him.
I thought the same thing. It was classic Stewart with a Clint sharpness.I loved it.
Thank you. I was just about to suggest that very few 82 year olds would be able to attempt to pull that off. That he did is a tribute to him. Won’t stop the Leftists from castigating him. We may have to defend Clint for a time in the Chick Fil A way.
You completely lost the magic of the moment. He’s an icon to many in his age group (ever heard of seniors?). And he did fine. Maybe you should get an idea of things outside your general age level. His “schtick” was top rate. I meet with seniors equal to him, or older, every week. He’s an actor, he performed his act [figured that out yet?], and went off stage. Mission accomplished; and magnificently, I might add.
A lot of guys would have “mailed it in” by having pre-recorded an editable video. You have to admire Clint - he put comedians on notice. You can make fun of Obama.
OUCH! Good one.
A cross between Harvey and Mr Smith Goes to Washington. But definitely a tribute to Jimmy Stewart, a republican, an officer and a gentleman. TV
You’re right, I saw some Stewart in it. Remember though, Eastwood is 82, and it was all ad-libbed! Quite an achievement.
I found the live broadcast on youtube if you want to see it again. It’s even better the second time around! :)

Hmmm....Stewart?????....Did Mr Smith ever go to Washington?
HEAR,HEAR!
C-Span was best because you could hear ALL the music and listen to ALL of the speeches instead of Hannity talkovers.
I guess people who don’t get it don’t get it. Clint, not simply an actor but a Hollywood legend, a successful actor, producer, writer, composer, and director - in other words an American success story - told Obama where to get off in words that will be understood from the salons of Hollywood to the docks of Hoboken, from the barrooms of the upper midwest to the retirement villages of Florida. The sophisticates of the dying dinosaur media from the “lovely” Andrea Mitchell to the spittle-spraying Chris Matthews will heap scorn on old Clint, but in their hearts they know he did damage to Demo hopes of connecting with independents and people who usually don’t vote ... they might this time just because Clint said, “It’s time to let him go.”
I wept. “We” own this country. Anglo saxon Patriots OWN this country. If you disagree, I hope you like the taste of steel.
No, Mr. Obama, Mitt can’t do that to himself...
Yeah, I was nervous too...kinda like worrying about what a drunken wedding guest is going to say when they stand up at your daughter’s wedding.
But he did great. Now Boehner,,he was another story because he WAS drunk when he adjourned the convention.
