I think you're right.
I seem to remember that Sen. Bob Packwood, R-Oregon, was quite an embarrassment. He was a well-known sexual harasser (would force his tongue down the throats of women in elevators ... that sort of thing).
Packwood was a pro-abortion RINO. Yet the GOP establishment supported him all the way, as I recall, despite his creepy behavior toward women.
Akin has done nothing like Packwood. In fact, I don't find what Akin said "offensive" at all!
(And I'm a woman, so hope I may be allowed to say that. /s)
It really exposes them as the hypocrites they are. They will almost ensure that one of the dumbest and most liberal Democrats will keep that seat by not supporting the conservative Republican nominee. Yet when there is a liberal nominee or even a conservative challenge to a liberal, they try to tell conservatives that they have to support the liberal.
Packwood is a good example, Specter was another example, the endorsement of Crist is another. Hell the Senate is filled with examples. But people buy their BS and go along with it so the Rockefeller Republicans retain control of the party.
Hopefully, some conservative packs will pour enough money into this race to score a win. Then Akin can go to the Senate and stick his finger in the establishments eye every time they try to pass crap legislation. Hell owe them nothing except contempt.
