Fresno County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man in connection to a burglary and attempted kidnapping.
It happened just after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Maple between South and Manning. Deputies say a woman and her two-year old daughter heard a window break in the back of her home. They saw a man in his 20's, who then broke in, stole some merchandise and tried to kidnap the child.

I’m sorry but in the bulk of CA the intruder doesn’t have to be armed. I’ve lived here since I was 3 years old, I am now 70 and I am also a hunter and I shoot regularly at our local range. I’ve probably forgotten more about firearms and firearm laws as they exist in CA than most people know. All that is required for self defense claim is that the intruder breaks into your house and you shoot him/her while they are in the house. Fists count as a deadly weapon in most counties, let alone a baseball bat or club.
If the occupants of the house had access to a "safe" exit at the time of the entry/confrontation, didn't utilize it, but preferring instead, continued confrontation and use of lethal force, trouble could be brewing.
If the alleged home invader suffers a fatal, gunshot, entry wound to his back side, the responsibility is yours to prove he was not in voluntary flight.
Again, to preclude the possibility of civil action against the legal system, the only free ticket for you and yours in almost all California counties is:
1) The perp dead inside your home.
2) The fatal entry wound is on the front side of the perp's body.
3) The perp is still clutching a deadly weapon when the first responders arrive.

Heaven bless her!
Glad this story is getting some legs....a cop woulda have just been only minutes away.
Hero dad! I can hardly believe this story has no gun violence. [Yea! for a change]
