The Romney campaign released these excerpts of Ann Romney's speech, which she'll deliver tonight at the Republican convention in Tampa: Tonight I want to talk to you from my heart about our hearts.
I want to talk not about what divides us, but what holds us together as an American family. I want to talk to you tonight about that one great thing that unites us, that one thing that brings us our greatest joy when times are good, and the deepest solace in our dark hours.
Tonight I want to talk to you about love.
Mitt's dad never graduated from college. Instead, he became a carpenter.
He worked hard, and he became the head of a car company, and then the governor of Michigan.
When Mitt and I met and fell in love, we were determined not to let anything stand in the way of our life together.
I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a storybook marriage. Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or Breast Cancer.

You can work in behalf of Mormonism if you choose.
AMEN !!
I can’t even begin to compete against you’re OBSESSION with RE-ELECTING the Marxist!
You still haven’t commented on that interview video.
I also see you cannot refute my charge against you.
I suggest you read the Scriptures and examine your heart and compare it to what the Word says about the Christian walk.
I thought about that today. We have only two choices. We cannot vote for someone we want, so we are left with voting for the best of two choices. This appears to be the reality of the situation. Before God this is a very hard election. I am praying that I make the right choice. Right now I am thinking that I will have to vote for Romney, but for my souls sake, I still am asking God if this is the right thing to do, or do I write in a candidate?
LOL, your heavy handed, holier than thou preaching feint, didn't last long.
I want my country back.
AMEN, Meg!
I sure wish the majority on FR these days agreed with us. Up is down, and down is up on FR now I guess...
You’re the one who’s “holier than thou”. I never said I was. I’m comparing what the Word says to how you’re acting.
There’s a discrepancy, and it’s not God’s Word that’s wrong.
This election hurts. Those that have a strong conviction about the rightness of voting for Romney, which I think is what needs to be done, need to stay on and convince others to do the same. It may not be easy, but strong people, with strong held beliefs, aren’t always easy to persuade. Understanding and patience is needed.
That is holier than thou, and you are using the attack to protect Mormonism from criticism, you are serving Mormonism.
If you want to fight for Mormonism, then do it straight up.
“DEFEAT THE OBAMANATION”
Amen!
I so passionately want Obama defeated..I scroll through the spam and usually ignore those who seem to want Obama re elected . Romney is the nominee and the only hepe we have.
I am warming up to the ticket now..
My conscience will not allow me to enable 4 more years of Obama’s destruction..I love this country.
The choice is clear..We MUST defeat Obama.
It is not holier than thou. You’re the one who’s been ‘preaching’ post after post after post after post, ad nauseum, how PURE you are in Christian thought, deed, and VOTING.
You’re not pure. You’re acting contrary to Scripture, and you have been told this numerous times by many Christians and believers. Yet, you continue to maintain YOU’RE PURE.
You’re acting contrary to God’s Word in your behavior, your spirit, your attitude. I’m admonishing you, in Christ, as one who understands Scripture, as Paul commands us to do. You are ruining your testimony, and you are working against Christ.
I suggest you go read the Scripture. Start with Paul, anything from Paul. And ask the Holy Spirit to melt your hardened heart.
I am voting for Romney-Ryan and will support them as is our Tea Party in Florida. I have been a member here, and have donated to the Freerepublic site during that time.
Reading this thread shows me Democrats in disguise are in here
as well as so called Conservatives. Anyone who helps Obama by trashing Romney-Paul, is not a Conservative, but a sell out.
I am sorry to see this site, added to the Polarized group who by choice will not defend us against Obama and his commie cohorts, by not supporting and voting against him.
Reap what you sew.

The choice is clear..We MUST defeat Obama.
I agree with you 110%! Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, and - obviously, after watching the full RNC convention coverage tonight - most conservatives agree.
The "purists" who don't care if Obama is re-elected can go crawl back under their rocks, for all I care. At this point, our mission is clear: Obama MUST be defeated!
The Romney supporters need to realize that they can vote for their man, but they cannot deify him, we know him and Ann too well.
The pro-Romney defense consists of constant personal attacks, mixed with, “well he isn’t muslim”, “At least he’s better than Obama”, and “we will have to hold his feet to the fire to keep him from being the liberal that he is”.
A constant loop of mostly personal attacks, with those three statements mixed in. With nothing to work with, his supporters can only rage, and lash out with angry insistence for compliance, and conformity to their party, blind submission to a party that many of us aren’t even members of and never have been.
YES!!
Maybe they are fighting fire with fire. There is nothing on earth more syrupy, innocent, loving, wholesome etc. etc. etc. than the way the public is being spoon fed the Obama family, like they are some sort of gods. It really is enough to "gag me with a spoon", and you can be sure that it most definitely doesn't reflect reality. From what I have seen, there's a whole lot of people who believe it, too.
I have an idea that the perfection being presented as the Romney family comes a bit closer to reality than any of the sickenly sweet mush out there, all over the place, about the Obamas.
I thought it was a good speech. I liked the line “We don’t have a story-book marriage, we have a real marriage”. And the discussion about their background was good, too. Its the answer to Dems who think “you didn’t build that”; its a point all the speakers have been making tonight again and again... success isn’t handed to you; if you’re successful you’ve had to struggle to get there.
Almost every speaker has included an implied or explicit rebuke to the president’s “you didn’t build that”. The truth is that, in fact, they and we did build that. Who didn’t build it was Obama, who didn’t build anything at all during the course of his rather useless life.
He wouldn’t understand what it means to build something because he’s never done it. Never will.
